yeah, i agree. band of brothers is ridiculously awesome. i just didn't consider it a movie.
Caught about the last hour of Rescue Dawn with Christian Bale and Steve Zahn the other night.
Don't know how it starts, but it looked pretty solid. Based on a true story as well.
Pearl Harbor?
Yeah the story line blew chunks and you'll never sell me on Josh Harnett and Affleck in those roles. But the cinemetography and special effects were killer. If you can cut out before the first bombs and after the speech by FDR - you got a solid 40-45 minutes in there.

Every once in awhile, the History Channel will show the series. In HD, it's amazing.
Has anyone said Das Boot? Awesome flick. Some say Submarine movies are their own genre though.
SPR was original and relevant as was Platoon at the time.
I consider The Deer Hunter extremely powerful. All the great war movies are actually anti-war movies. MacArthur has a great quote about noone bearing the burden or war more than the warrior and the are the ones who desire peace the most....how true.

Gallipoli was very good.
The Big Red One was Mark Hamill's best non-Star Wars role (there is a joke in there) and a good movie.
And I must mention Force 10 from Navarone and A Bridge Too Far...simply great movies from my adolescence.

I would have nominated "Pearl Harbor" directed by Bay and starring Ben Affleck, but that was a documentary. joke. I will nominate it for all-time hottie movie because of Kate Beckinsdale.

My friend warned me about how gory the first 15-20 minutes SPR is, but this was just.....
