If you asked people who had the best uniform in the Big 12 there probably wouldn’t be many people who would pick Iowa State. But it is quietly a really solid-looking uniform. Dark Red and Yellow are usually not the color combination you would throw out as a good look, but the Cyclones make it work.

The jersey looks great with the Cyclones above the number and the different color than the number. It makes both of them pop and looks good. The collar and sleeves being outlined is such a good look that I just don’t understand why every team doesn’t do it. It makes it look like a basketball jersey and should be required by every team.

Former Cyclone Jay Niemann was named an assistant at Iowa. I may still have the newspaper clipping somewhere from when his recruiting class signed with ISU.

Why do I feel old all of a sudden?

Need a little help here, my question is basically simple, at what age do you plan to retire. I reached my 30 years in IPERS this year, and I can hit my rule of 88 in November. Looking at my last IPERS statement I will bring in $2,830 a month being retired after I hit my rule of 88.
I love my current job and plan to work another 4 years, today I received a call about an interview for a teaching job in Missouri for next year. The pay would be a lot less than what I currently receive, but if I can retire in Iowa, and get the job in Missouri, I would be clearing roughly $13,000 more per year.

My wife and daughter are totally against me switching jobs, they keep telling me stay in the job you love and ride it out there for another four years and then retire. I keep looking at the difference in pay and if the job is offered, to move and take the chance. I need to get my ducks in a row, and will be calling IPERS tomorrow.

Basically what are peoples opinion one way or another?

With contracts up in the air for 4 of the 5 ex-Cyclones that saw NBA action this year, 2 declaring for the draft and the possibilities that Shayok will be looked at by NBA teams, I thought this would be a good place for discussion on the NBA off-season. Draft analysis for the current guys, teams' decisions on our guys' contracts etc. I'm sure we'll have several guys to follow in the summer league as well.

I just purchased VB season tickets for the 1st time. I've been to a few games over the last several years and always enjoyed it, so thought I's make a commitment to go to more games. Anyway, could someone answer some questions for me in simple terms (not rule book speech). What are the restrictions for back row players, and more specifically the restrictions for the Libero? Looking forward to my seat assignment and the games.

I am impressed by his ability to recruit depth. It seemed like previous coaches could sometimes get a pretty good 1st string out there but struggled to build depth. So when injuries invariably occurred we were screwed. I always attributed it is nobody wants to come and be a backup for a period of time at ISU because of poor tradition etc. it doesn’t seem to matter to this staff. Their ability to build a program appears to be extremely sustainable because every position has a pretty good 2 deep. This is something I have never seen in the last 20 years that has has some success. Now some very special players are starting to take notice(Brock and Hall) and committing. They don’t seem to care they are in the same class. It’s pretty cool.

Anyone have any recommendations on roof company in Des Moines? Going to start getting bids on my house and wanted to see if anyone had some recommendations on who they have had success with and who to stay away from?

I'm biased being an Ames kid. Graduated a long time ago. Loved the school and the high level of academic and athletic competition. Felt it prepared me very well for down the road. I've never figured out the desire for so many of Iowa State's coaches and Admin that send their kids to Gilbert.

This will be interesting to me. As I understand it, the next 40 nba draft eligible players who don't make the top 60 invites to the real combine, will play in the G-league combine. There's an outside chance a few top players from this 2-day deal get the invite to the real combine.

So let's say LW plays in the G league camp and doesn't make it to the official combine, he'll know he's at best not in the top 60 players. And he might not even get a G-league spot. Does he want to go to Korea like Burton?

Just my hunch, but if LW get at least some sort of G-league guarantee he should take it. If not, does that slightly open the door to returning to ISU???

AMES, Iowa –The Iowa State men’s basketball team will be traveling overseas this summer for a foreign trip, spending 10 days and nine nights in Italy and playing three games against international competition.

The trip will provide value for a Cyclone squad that could return just two of its top six scorers from last year’s NCAA Tournament team.

“We are excited to be able to take our guys on a trip that will provide them with memories and experiences that will last a lifetime,” head coach Steve Prohm said. “It will give us the opportunity to work with them more on the court in a team setting this summer and allow them to get acclimated to each other. We are grateful that our administration supports us by allowing us to take these trips.”

The trip, which will take place Aug. 10-20, will start in Rome before stops in Florence, Pisa and Venice. While Iowa State’s opponents are yet to be determined, the trip will feature historical and educational stops with tours planned of the Roman Colosseum, Vatican City, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and more.

Iowa State will be making a summer trip for the fourth time in program history. Previously, the Cyclones have traveled to Mexico (2004), Italy (2011) and Spain (2015).

The Cyclones are tentatively scheduled to play games on Aug. 13 in Rome, Aug. 15 in Pisa and Aug. 18 in Vicenza. The schedule and opponents will be confirmed in the month prior to the team departing.

Need to replace the AC unit, and guessing will need to do it all. Any recommendations on the group to use? What brand is the best in your opinion. What is the quietest?

Mediacom just jacked my internet by $30/month because my "promotional rate" of $60 (lol) expired, so my next expected bill is a ridiculous $92. I called them and they will not agree to take it back to the $60 price.

I checked century link and their top speed is 1.5 mbps. Are there any good options for internet other than mediaconjob? Speed and reliability is a must.

Just checking. Haven't seen any complaints in weeks. I'm 99 percent sure we got it taken care of.
