Question about the helium shortage

When I was a freshman at ISU, taking chemistry 101, the instructor demonstrated the explosiveness of hydrogen by lighting a small hydrogen balloon. The resulting bang adequately demonstrated why hydrogen is not a particularly good substitute for helium in party balloons. I have long wondered, could a mix of the two (say, 60/40 helium to hydrogen) be used?

So we decided to give the latest in theater seating tech a shot for Avengers Endgame. It’s a significant up charge at $40 for 2 people for these seats so I was pretty stoked for the “totally immersive environment “.

Big mistake! Not only are the seats smaller, they don’t recline at all and the movement/vibrations are the equivalent of having a kid sit behind you and kick your seat and pull on the back every couple minutes. It was just distracting and annoying to us so we ended up moving to the recliner seats in a different theater.

They were nice about it and even refunded the up charge amount but lesson learned for us.

Friday OT #1 - Three and Three

Thanks so much to @cyclones500 for always coming to my rescue with great, topical thread ideas! This one is with Mother's Day in mind (note to all CF dudes - get your mom or wife something).

Among your common personality/life outlook traits, which did your absorb from your mother and which from your dad? List 3 you think you picked up from your mom and which 3 from your dad.

So, for me:

Mom:
  • hyper-organization of schedule and work
  • a bit of a worrier
  • fairly Type A overall - need to get projects done thoroughly and on-time

Dad:
  • pretty healthy dose of sarcasm
  • strong sense of commitment to finish something I start
  • involvement in community organizations
Wow, that was harder than I thought! What do you have?
