Favorite underrated actors

This thought just hit me randomly. Does anyone else have any actors/actresses who, upon seeing that they are in a certain film/show, it immediately has your attention as one to seriously consider? Even though they aren't actors who people generally consider capable of carrying the film as the lead? I've got a few to start:

Sean Bean: he's why I got into GoT in the first place. Tremendous actor, though seeing him as a more heroic figure was certainly different. Some of it is in his voice. There's just something about his voice that says this film ain't ******* around.

Cillian Murphy: he's absolutely brilliant. Peaky Blinder is a great show in no small part due to him, but I also loved him in Red Eye, 28 Days Later, and The Wind That Shakes the Barley.

Barry Pepper: loved Pvt. Jackson from the first time I saw Saving Private Ryan. 61* is an underrated film, in general, and he was great as Roger Maris. And while "3" was a lousy movie, he was a pretty good Dale Earnhardt. But my favorite character he's played is Joe Galloway in We Were Soldiers.

Also, it is not necessary to vote in all the categories, but you do need to scroll to the bottom and go through a couple of steps to vote. No email address or anything required though. Help these guys out! Voting ends July 3rd.

WNBA: Bridget Carleton and general WNBA stuff

Thought I'd start a new thread to follow Carleton and the WNBA. Posted in WBB rather than Pro Forum since it makes more sense to me since the WBB fans are here in this forum. Might reduce the "but I hate women's sports" posts.

Randoms:

Bridget has still not played in a game. :(

Jessica Shepard of the Lynx went down with what looks like maybe a bad knee injury yesterday after playing 25 minutes. :( MRI today.

The Sun fans hardily booed ex-Sun Chiney Ogwumike the entire game the other day. Classy. Supposedly she was ready to walk away from the WNBA this season and pursue her ESPN career. Who would blame her, she can maybe make real money doing that. Sun traded her to LA where ESPN studio LA is literally across the street from the arena. I get fans maybe thinking this trade was "forced" but otherwise she wasn't going to play anyway and you won't have gotten a 1st round draft choice in return. Not impressed with those fans.

****'s Sporting Goods

We were looking at an elliptical on ****'s website but didn't order it. Then an hour later we got an email from them thanking us for our order. We called ****'s and they would not stop the order, then called PayPal and entered a dispute with them and called the credit card company and entered a dispute with them. We then got another email from ****'s that our order is on it's way. Anyone have something like this happen or have any advice on anything else we should do?

Special Teams Coach?

We don't have a special teams coach listed on the Cyclones.com players & coaches roster. I believe last year it was Joe Houston but he was not retained. His open spot was filled by Matt Caponi who will be coaching the cornerbacks. Who will coach the special teams units this fall?

This crossed my mind when I started thinking about all the depth we have at linebacker and potentially DB. That should be a huge boost on Kick/KR/Punt/PR

Chris Baker, Cyclone (2008) in contention on Web.com Tour Event

I was watching the Web.com tournament and saw an ISU logo on the leaderboard. Chris Baker is tied for 2nd after 2 rounds of the BMW Charity Pro-Am at -14. I always enjoy seeing a Cyclone do well in whatever they are competing in. He's currently 19 in the annual ranking and if he finished in the top 25 he moves up to the PGA tour for next year. Wish him well!

Iowa United Meet and Greet

Hey guys the plan we have is to bring all the guys in the 3rd week in July. We are going to practice up at Iowa state with their players but while we are in Des Moines we thought it might be fun to have a meet and greet somewhere at a business in exchange for some sponsorship if anybody is intrested?

We are fully funded this year but would be great progress on next year's team to get them even more. Shoes, gear that sort of thing.

Just spit balling idea but we could bring the entire team and coaches for a couple hours to your business. Autographs, photos, etc. And obviously we can do alot social media wise.

We are getting this out there to a lot of places so certainly DM me if anyone has interest in hosting and helping sponsor us and we can talk details. Thanks!

Battle Bots

I know it's niche viewing, but the new season starts tonight. I like it because I used to watch it with my daughters, both of whom think it's weird I watch it now. Anyhow, I find it entertaining, mostly because the PxP and color commentary can be hilarious at times. 20:00 on Discovery, same time as NBA finals.

Future Sports at ISU

So I know over the last several years there have been several drives to push for one or more different sports to become University sanctioned. I am just curious what the status is of any of these or if anyone has any real insight on what the real possibility is to add one or more new sports. I have heard we are in good shape as far as numbers for title IX, to add about anything.

Personally I would love to see Baseball back and I think it has the best shot at coming back but needs a major investment to do so. But being the only Big 12 school not having baseball and the fact we always were decent in Baseball and have a good club team that has pushed for a return to University sanctioning.

Hockey has been great at the club level and has tried to be a University sport for years but would more than likely require a B1G affiliate membership or similar to make it, which is not impossible. But I I think this is real long shot. One thing is they could see it as a add for both men's and women's. I'm not sure hockey is quite popular enough in this state for it though.

Womens Rowing, I know they have pursued the University level, and It is a sport many Universities have added and spent a major amount of money on in recent years adding facilities. It is a major sport for adding to Title IX balance.

Others, that are starting to pop up at other schools, some in the Big 12, or that have been removed over the years, most I don't see but maybe someone has a different view.
