New Car "Advances" that you don't like

I'm in a rental car right now and boy, do I hate this engine dying every time you stop technology that I've experience in a lot of cars. Talk about something that will cause of lot of engine wear to as the oil drains out....

I'm also starting to hate bucket seats that seem to be getting smaller and large middle consoles that don't give you any room.

This got me to thinking, besides the stupid blind side lights that go off at every tree, what else might there be that us old fogies are not liking on new cars.

Ferentz to ISU and Campbell to

So, my bunch of friends were chatting on Facebook and we had a interesting discussion as to who would fare better should Coach Ferentz were to be at ISU at Coach Campbell were to be at Iowa?
The consensus ended up to be the talent levels at each school were not marketable different but the change of coaching win/ loss record could be.
The question begs to be asked.... Which Coach would have a better record after the switch?
Looking forward to hearing your perspective(s) and answers!

*** Official "The Open" thread ***

The final major of the year is here. Set at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

I believe the British oddsmakers have Rory as the favorite. I would love to see Rickie Fowler get that major monkey off his back.

You never know what kind of weather you can get when playing The Open and it can play a huge factor if you get caught in the worst of it.

Tee times start at 1:35am Eastern

Properly eating corn on the cob

I have recently encountered a growing number of people cutting it off the cob instead of holding it and eating it like a real Iowan. I understand if you have dental issues that make it difficult. However, it was always meant to be eaten straight off the cob. Nothing completes a summer day in this great state like biting into a fresh cob of salted buttery goodness like that feeling.

Buying a Car Out of State

There's an old thread on this topic here, but didn't want to resurrect it.

I may be buying a car out of state soon. I live in Iowa and am looking strongly at a car in either Missouri or Wisconsin (dealerships)

How will tax, title and registration be handled? Do I pay none of that at time of purchase, and go to the county recorder (Polk County resident) when I get back home to settle up?

Do they give me a bill of sale or something to take with me? (Obviously I won't have the title right away)

On That Note: To the 9’s (part 3) 1989

Welcome back to On That Note, CF’s home for music discussion and obsession, hosted by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.

This week, we continue “To the 9’s,” a decade-by-decade look at top LPs, from 1959 to 1999.

The focus for Segment 3 of the series: Albums released in 1989.

Basic format: Include artist name, album title, and no more than 5 song samples. Elaboration encouraged, such as qualities you admire about the album and why it endures for you.

My first choice is coming shortly, in a separate post.

Listen to part 1 (’59/’69) and part 2 (’79) here.
