To win a murder conviction, police and prosecutors made up evidence and secretly paid a witness

"Not only did detectives write police reports containing invented statements from witnesses, the report found, but the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office also made secret payments to the single eyewitness, who was pressured into making the false identification that would ultimately seal Johnson’s fate, according to the report."

We shouldn't even be surprised anymore, but my God is this disgusting!!

Friday OT #2 - Pod People

Lately I've been listening to a few podcasts, and was wondering if anyone has any favorites? Give links!

I was listening to Disgraceland, which was interesting but cheesy, and got to the end of it. I wanted something funny about music, so I started hunting around. I think Adam Scott is hilarious, and found that he and Scott Auckerman had a podcast that started as U Talkin U2 To Me where they went album-by-album through U2's discography, and then changed it to R U Talkin REM RE: Me going through REM's discography when they got to the end with U2. U2 isn't really my favorite band, but the two of them are so funny together that just them hanging out chatting is interesting enough to keep me listening. I'm not to the REM stuff yet (who I DO love), but bet those will be great.

Donovan Jackson - playing in Europe

So, I missed all this. Apparently Donovan Jackson played with a club called Pardubice in the Czech Republic (I'm still using that name). He averaged 14 points a game and has just signed with a Greek club (which is probably an upgrade in pay). There isn't a lot of English language news on either of the teams so I haven't even confirmed what the name of the team is. I saw this on Monte's Twitter feed.

Hot Take: Our Football team won't actually have to do all that much to replace Montgomery and Butler

As everyone knows, David Montgomery and Hakeem the Dream were two of the best players we've ever had at their positions (personally I think Hakeem the Dream is the GOAT of Iowa State WRs). With them going on to the pros a year early, much has been made about finding a way to replace the output that we'll be losing with them.

I don't think that this is going to be as much of an issue for the following reasons:

  • Our RB corps is probably the most stacked it's ever been. Idk who's the best or worst RB right now but even our worst RB is probably a 7/10 while our best RB is probably a 9/10 or 10/10 even.

  • Similarly, with our WRs, yes, we probably don't have anyone capable of abusing defenders so beautifully like Hakeem the Dream regularly did, but also, the receivers we have, especially Milton and (probably) Pettway do not seem to be bad, and we also will have a QB in Brock Purdy who usually knows what he's doing when it comes to throwing balls around.

Thoughts?

Catching up with Dresser about Flo rankings

Hello everyone!!! I got a chance to speak to Dresser this morning about the Flo rankings that came out!

https://cyclonefanatic.com/2019/07/...nkings-tabs-iowa-state-as-best-in-the-big-12/

Hope you're all having a good night! Just a little nugget for you guys, I did an interview with Kyven Gadson that I think went super well! I'm going to work on getting that out for you guys soon!

Per 247Sports....

14 of our top 25 all-time recruits (since 247 started tracking it, which is at least back to 2002) have all come under Coach Matt Campbell. Those include 4 of the guys committed for 2020 (Dekkers, Jackson, Bouman and Pauls). Obviously, CMC gets a lot of credit but I think also a lot has to go to his staff. As a team they are finding these players and getting them here and then really teaching them how to play their best football. Great time to be a Cyclone!
