I just read that the state of Iowa has put a hold on daily fantasy for college sports until 5/2020. So if you planned on doing the daily fantasy college football on draft kings or fan duel or yahoo or wherever else it is offered it will still be banned till next May

How did someone from Iowa State not think of this, including me? This is a pretty cool invention. On a farm, this would be a huge hit.

just wonder from your experience- how long a gas grill can last? Mine is already 15 - we have Charbroil Fiesta - thinking of doing the replacement parts but with the fall approaching, the grills are being discounted heavily or will be so in the next couple of weeks.

This may be the stupidest cop thing ever. Testing bird poop on a car and saying it's cocaine. In what alternative universe does cocaine end up on the car hood of a car? Saw this a couple days ago but resisted clicking until today. Absolutely insane. Stopped for speeding, cuffed, placed in police car, and than cops go through his car, gym bag, duffle bag etc before settling on arresting him for cocaine, on his ******* car hood!

The wife and I are expecting twins in late November/early December. Wanted to start on a thread for any other parents of twins (or parents with multiple kids) on general advice/things to do. A few of the questions my wife and I have:

What kind of stroller do you use?
What kind of bassinet did you buy?
How long did they sleep in your room (if at all)?
Did you purchase 1 or 2 cribs?
What kind of pack and play did you buy?
Should I buy a minivan? Currently, we have a 2018 Ford Fusion and 2008 Jeep Liberty so feels like one of us needs to upgrade.

We live near Ames so it's easy for us to get to Ames or Des Moines to purchase things if you recommend a certain place in Central Iowa.

We're excited to bring 2 new Cyclones into the world, but I'm terrified as well.

I apologize if this has been discussed as it isnt exactly new news, but it's the first I've seen of it.

I came across an article that they are adding a rule for overtime that will rarely be seen. Starting in the 5th overtime, instead of lining up at the 25, The teams will alternate attempting a two point conversion until one of the teams fails.

I think I like that. It's like a penalty shootout in soccer or hockey if still tied after overtime. It will be interesting to see the first time it's used how well received it is. Last year there were 2 games that went to at least 5 overtimes, so we might get to see it before the end of the season.

A few of mine, as examples:

"Over the Top" - I don't care that the story is ridiculous and the acting terrible, when Lincoln Hawk turns that hat around, everyone in the place cheers! ("Dutch" with Ed O'Neill reminds me a lot of it, and also probably qualifies for this list.)

"Halloween 3: Season of the Witch" - What's so awesome about this movie is that the first two Halloween movies were actually really well done, legitimate films in a genre of terrible dreck. But then Halloween 3 comes along and you don't ever even see Michael, you have a ridiculous story about Halloween candy and movies that is sorta terrifying when you think about it. And a terrible, awful rhyme. Much like whichever Friday the 13th movie has Jason's heart slopping all over Manhattan, this one is just incredible-y bad.

"Mannequin" - I watched this movie approximately 700 times at a far-too-young age. It's just awful, so very 80s, the acting is terrible. But Meshach Taylor was hilarious despite being just an offensively awful stereotype in it, and I just learned that he died five years ago when I googled to try to spell his name. Spawned one of Starship's worst songs of all time.

I have a small package that I ordered from someone near Sacramento California. In the tracking, it said Friday “departed USPS regional origin facility Sacramento”, which is expected. I checked it a few minutes ago, and it says “departed USPS facility Harrisburg PA”. I live near Omaha.

My wife and I made the trip to Bourbonnais, Illinois this weekend for the last Chicago Bears training camp practice open to the public. The place was absolutely packed with fans.

As my wife and I watched practice, a woman I didn't know approached and tapped me on the shoulder. After I turned to her, she said she wanted to thank me.

For what I asked.

"For supporting my baby," she responded.

I was wearing a Bears #32 David Montgomery jersey at the practice. It was David's mother who approached me once she saw the jersey I was wearing.

We talked about how I'm an Iowa State graduate and absolutely loved watching David the last couple years in Ames, and now couldn't wait to watch him play for my favorite NFL team.

I'm still in shock that David's mother would take the time to talk with and thank someone she didn't know all because that person was wearing David's jersey. It was an absolute delight to talk with her.

I think I need some help. I need someone to talk me down. I fully believe we will win 10 games and go to the big 12 title game. I have always been very realistic when it comes to ISU football, but in my head I can't help but feel this is crazy. That would be the best season in history by a long shot. It has to be dumb to feel this strongly about something that has never happened in the history of the program. People ask how I think we will be and I say 8-4 because I don't want to say it out loud. Tell me I'm crazy.

I have been a Chicago Bears fan since the days of Walter Payton, Jim McMahon, and the Fridge. I now have a son that is old enough to really get into football and I have gotten him to follow the Bears too. Now with a little added incentive to actually go to a game in Chicago with the boy and to watch Montgomery and it doesn’t hurt they are pretty good now too.

Tickets to the game are the easy part- where I need help with is what hotel to pick within the proximity of Soldier Field also to drive self and park or take public transportation. I’d appreciate any feedback on hotels and ways to and from hotel on game day. FYI- we are looking, tentatively, to go to the Lions game on 11/10- kickoff is set for noon.

Caught the last week... Archer and someone were interviewing both and asked about the CyHawk rivalry. Bailey said he had never heard of the rivalry until he played in it. Then he starts laughing and says "I hate those guys. I don't even know why - but I hate those guys"... Not sure why but it made me laugh out loud...

It was REALLY clear they want to beat Iowa more than anyone... Which is cool with me so long as they beat everyone else in conference too...
