ISU WBB Picked to finish 4th in Big 12

https://big12sports.com/news/2019/1...bed-as-preseason-favorite-in-big-12-poll.aspx

1. Baylor (9) 81
2. Texas (1) 71
3. West Virginia 66
4. Iowa State 49
5. K-State 47
6. Oklahoma State 39
7. Oklahoma 34
8. TCU 27
9. Texas Tech 26
10. Kansas 10

Honestly, I think 2-8 is up for grabs. 2 for Texas is generous IMO as Aston continues to underperform in getting the results out of the wealth of talent she has. Williams and White were her hardest workers last year and are gone.

Morgantown Roll Call

Any other CF'er's going to the game tomorrow in Morgantown? I work with an ISU guy and two WVU guys and we always make the trip from DC to Morgantown for football every other year and basketball if the game falls on a weekend. If any other CF'er's are coming, we are all going to be tailgating in the Burgundy lot. The best part of the tailgating in the burgundy lot is that I found out my hotel is dog friendly, so I'll have my insanely friendly and outgoing border collie pup with me until an hour or so before kickoff and he thrives on attention. Who else is going to the game tomorrow?

Friday OT #2 - The Nines

What is your favorite city in the US? Why? What top cities would you like to visit?

My hierarchy of top 3:

1 - Portland, OR - it is super fun and weird and goofy and doesn't take itself too seriously. Great food, bars, music.
2 - Savannah, GA - it is also super fun, and weird, but in the exact opposite way of Portland. It's so historical and grand.
3 - NYC - I love that there is something to do all of the time, day or night.

I'd like to visit Austin, TX - I've been to most of the other big cities in TX, but think it would be a blast to visit.

Not eating as a family. Stopping for 1 hour

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2019/10/work-its-whats-for-dinner/599770/

My oldest child is 38. My youngest 23. We always required supper, no matter what time. We all sat down, ate well and talked or maybe rushed thru it, but we all sat down, and talked or had or explanations of coming or past events and plans. I hate to sound old but it was kind of cool. I see none of my kids passing the art of supper on to their kids. Not a complaint or a suggestion for others to follow. Just an older persons recollections.

2019 MBB Banquet - State Center

Just an FYI: Coaches and the team were at State Center last evening for the 37th Annual MBB Banquet. Good time mingling with players and coaches. Sat in the vicinity of Solo, Bolton, Halliburton and Conditt. Seems to be a lot of positive energy between team members. Lewis was nominated as the best singer/dancer.

I thought it was interesting that CSP made a strong point about 9 different ISU players with strong NBA ties. While looking in the general direction of Tyrese, he pointed out that seven of these players also had their degree from ISU. Probably wishful thinking on his part.

NFL: ***Official Week Six Thread***

The Pats get a light scrimmage in against the Giants without Saquon Barkley, Wayne Gallman, Evan Engram, and Sterling Shepard tonight.

Best of Week Six:

HOU @ KC - On paper it should be a shootout. I'm pulling for the Chiefs to get right and do the COlts a solid by knocking off their only serious competition for the AFC South. Getting Tyreek Hill back in the fold will be huge for them if he's activated for this one.

PHI @ MIN - I don't know what to make of this one. I think the Eagles pull it off but they've been a little up and down so it's tough to know which team is going to show up. Could have big postseason implications since both teams could be fighting for a wild card down the stretch.

SF @ LA Rams - Big NFC West game. It's too early for any game to be an elimination game but a loss for the Rams would put them at 3-3, trailing the Niners and Seahawks in the division.

DET @ GB - The Lions have a shot at bringing Green Bay back to the pack in the North.

MIA @ WSH - Sheer morbid curiosity. The team actively trying to lose vs. the team that unintentionally sucks. The loser will be the winner, with the inside track on the first overall pick.

Doyle cost Epenesa millions

Who's to blame? Ferentz? Doyle?

https://www.pff.com/news/draft-college-football-week-6-2020-nfl-draft-scouting-notes

WHERE’S THE DOMINANCE FROM EPENESA?
It was supposed to be a two-horse race at the edge position heading into this season, but after six weeks, there’s no more debate. Ohio State’s Chase Young is having an all-time start to his season while Iowa’s A.J. Epenesa is mired in mediocrity adjusting to his full-time role. While Young puts up single-game pass-rushing grades of 90.0-plus week in and week out, Epenesa has yet to even crack 80.0 in any of Iowa’s five games this season. While the Iowa defense doesn’t allow as much freedom as Ohio State’s to attack, a player with Epenesa’s physical tools should be dominating regardless. He had a higher pass-rushing grade as a true freshman (78.8) than he does currently (76.8). The season is still young, but Epenesa needs to show us that dominance again soon.
