Ames/DM area European make mechanic

I'm looking for a mechanic who would be knowledgeable with older model European cars. Specifically, I have a '79 Volvo 242 DL. It is in excellent shape, but hasn't had a thorough once-over by a pro in many years, so I want someone who could be trusted with something that old.

I've previously owned some late model Volvos, which I've taken to Campus Garage as well as a real nondescript place that used to be up in north Ames on Reliable Street called Imported Cars. The old man who ran that place was great with Volvos, but I think it has shut down???

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

By the way, the glorious old Volvo I'm talking about looks exactly like this... :)

FS: SOLD - 4 - OSU SEZ Club Tickets

I am looking to sell my 4 SEZ Club tickets for the Oklahoma State game. As you probably know the game kicks at 2:30, and should be a great environment for Homecoming. These seats are near the top of Section 20 and really close to the aisle for quick access to the climate controlled area, restrooms and concessions.

I will sell in pairs if you want.

Section 20, Row 39, Seat 17-20

$200 a ticket.

Friday OT #1 - I'm Head of the Class, I'm Popular

What are your unpopular opinions/hot takes? (Let's keep them unpolitical and safe for work (or in a spoiler with a pretty hefty disclaimer if not - no pics) - feel free to start a similar thread in the Cave if desired.)

A few:

- The only thing at Five Guys that is better than Freddy's are their Oreo fluff milkshakes. The burgers and fries are just okay.

- Pumpkin and pecan pies are worst of the popular pie varieties.

- Dostoevsky > Tolstoy

- Harrison Ford isn't that great of an actor. He just makes that one serious face a lot with his mouth slightly agape.

FloRadio Podcast 416 - Cyclone Preview

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/flowrestling-radio-live/id961774064?i=1000453875804

Here’s the link to the latest episode of Flo’s podcast. Talk about the Clones starting at the 12 minute mark and end at the 37 minute mark as a part of their ongoing preseason top 20 breakdown. Pretty extensive 25 minute discussion of a lot of topics that have been talked about on here. Every team they had previously broken down only got 10-15 minutes of discussion, so there’s national intrigue in terms of what’s going to happen this year. Everyone seemed to be pretty bullish on the team and the potential they have. Enjoy!

FS: MBB Tickets - Select Games - Section 234

Four tickets to select MBB games that I would like to find good homes for this upcoming season. The seats are donor seats in section 234. I have four all together in the same row on the aisle (row 3, seats 12-15....west baseline towards the free throw line. I will give preference to those that will purchase 2 or all 4 as I don't want the hassle of selling singles. The tickets are in my hand and will be able to transfer them at the time of the sale (either in person, or electronically (preferred)). I would consider fair offers for all the games in a package deal (again in groups of 2/4 preferred).

The games are as follows:

Date / Opponent / Time / Price

1/8 KU 7p Serious Offers Only

1/21 OSU 7p $50 each

1/29 BU 7p $50 each

3/3 WVU 8p $50 each

choose 2 teams

Having read through the thread here and another copy cat thread on another site that shall remain nameless, figured a poll was fitting. mods please merge if possible. I put every team mentioned in each thread minus a few that don't fit my definition spelled out below

rebuild definition: a team expects to win 7+ games year in and year out.

because of that definition, i left out teams like nebraska and tennesse who can probably get to that level fairly easily compared to the teams on the list. teams like nebraska have unrealistic expectations and will probably never reach heights of years past but fans expect it.

consider:
recruiting grounds
other teams in same state (recruiting competition)
other teams in same conference/division (poor arkansas/Rutgers)
academic standardsn (tough go vandy)
geographical appeal (lets face it, midwest is tough to recruit to)
facilities
stadium capacity/fan support

ISU vs. Tech - PFF Players to Watch

PFF loves them some Purdy...

Iowa State @ Texas Tech
Players to Watch:
Brock Purdy is the player to watch in this one as the true sophomore has come into his own as of late and is putting forth elite grades once again this season. He’s the owner of the nation’s highest-graded game as a passer (against UL-Monroe) and against the Texas Tech pass defense that ranks 98th in coverage grade, should have quite the afternoon. The Red Raiders can score with the best of them but it will take a few more big-time catches from star receiver T.J. Vasher to do such a thing against the Iowa State secondary.

Expert Prediction:
Iowa State is the better team and needs a win to stay in the hunt for a Big 12 title appearance. With the Oklahoma schools on the horizon, the Cyclones come out shaky but right the ship in the second half and cruise with another dominant game from Purdy.

NFL: ***Official Week Seven Thread***

The reeling Chiefs @ Denver tonight. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly things can change in the NFL. Two weeks ago KC looked like a virtual lock to play the Pats in the AFC championship, and Denver appeared to be in the running for a top three draft pick. Since then Denver is 2-0 and the Chiefs are 0-2 and in danger of falling into a tie with the Raiders for first place in the West. It's pretty obvious Mahomes is really limited with that ankle injury but their bye isn't until Week Eleven. Tough two weeks after tonight with back to back home games against the Packers and Vikes.

Other games of interest:

MIN @ DET - Must-win for the Lions if they want to keep pace in the North. They've been more competitive than I thought they'd be.

HOU @ IND - Chance for the Texans to put a little distance between themselves and the rest of the division. A win for the Colts creates a two way tie for first place with Indy holding the head to head tiebreak.

NO @ CHI - The return of Mitchell Trubisky looms. Nagy has to find a way to kickstart that offense no matter who's under center. They're wasting a really good defense (again).

PHI @ DAL - Good Sunday night game. Winner takes control of the East. Interesting side note - if the Giants knock off Arizona they'll be one game back of the division leader after this weekend. Didn't see that coming.

These rankings go to 33 per weight.

125: Mackall #11
133: Gomez #6
141: Parker #15
149: Degan #3
157: Carr #10
165: Straw #19
174: Coleman #19
184: Colbray #7
197: Shapiro #28
285: Gremmel #16

I'm excited for the season. Coach Dresser seems to get wrestlers who are willing to live the life, to dedicate themselves to the sport. Although many of our regulars made great strides, I was particularly impressed by how Schumacher and Mulder wrestled when they got their chances. If Okie St. hadn't given up the earned allocation by having the wrestler drop a weight class, Schumacher would have made the tournament as a true freshmen.

If we could we could make as big of an improvement from this year as we did last year, look out!! Here's hoping.
