LAZARD TO HAVE A BIGGER ROLE?

Tom Silverstein, in today's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, writes about ways the Packers can augment their offense going forward and says this:

WR Allen Lazard (18 catches, 220 yards, 12.2 average, one TD): Whether it’s because of injury or a poor offensive fit, Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have not had good years. Lazard has. After coming off the practice squad in Week 6, he caught 4 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, then followed that with games of 3-for-42, 5-for-42, 3-for-44 and 3-for-27. In that same period, Valdez-Scantling has five catches for 185 yards and a touchdown and Allison has 13 catches for 107 yards.

Of course, finding a way to get the speedy Valdes-Scantling the ball down the field is crucial, but he doesn’t look like he’s 100%, and he still hasn’t proved he can do anything but run deep routes.

“I think we’ve got to look critically at ourselves and what we’re asking him to do and making sure we’re putting him in position to get some of those balls because he does have great talent,” LaFleur said.

The 6-5, 227-pound Lazard might not be as physically gifted, but he has a higher catch percentage (75% of the times he’s targeted) than any other wide receiver on the team and consistently posts yards after the catch. Not only that, he’s the best run blocker among the receivers and is an asset both on runs and passes.

He should be the No. 3 receiver moving forward.

Casey’s

W. T. F?

I stopped into my local Casey’s in Grimes for the first time in a week. Got a cup of joe. All new cups. Nice. High quality stuff. Ooh, new signs for the coffee. Swanky. Wait....all new flavors? They changed the flavors? The Classic is NOT THE CLASSIC BREW!!!! It’s all bitter and ‘look at me’ now. What the ****? I go to Casey’s for the cheap and weak coffee. I check the website and it says this...

Our culinary team gave themselves a mission: find a better-tasting coffee line that resembles more specialty coffee bar flavors

WHAT THE HELL, I don’t want a coffee bar, I want my weak arse coffee back!
Coffee and the HyVee fuel saver was the only reason I used Casey’s. Right across the street from my Casey’s is a new Kwikstar. And they’re putting up another KS on the other side of my hood. Goodbye Casey’s, I’ll miss you.

FS: ALL SOLD

We’re dealing with some illness and can’t make the game.

The two tickets are in section E on the 50 yard line. They have chairbacks.

Face value per ticket or best offer. I live in Altoona but work at ISU. Will be in Ames during the day tomorrow or can meet in Des Moines/Ankeny area tomorrow evening or Saturday before the game.

I can transfer tickets electronically but won’t be able to give the C4 parking pass unless we meet.

Rob Gray's Excellent Article

I just saw the article Rob posted today. I didn't see any post on it yet, so I wanted to highlight to everyone the last two paragraphs of the article.

That’s the hope. The grindstone replaces shiny objects and an ability to remain still in the moment banishes painful losses to the recesses of memory. The future remains bright — and Campbell fully “gets” how being so close to being an results-validated elite team frustrates fans eager to celebrate a long-awaited, nationally-noticed breakthrough.

“I get it,” Campbell said. “I do. I completely understand it, but I also understand this: They’ve seen a a lot of bad football for a long time and I think they’re smart enough to know what good football looks like and what good culture looks like and what really good kids look like. And to me, that’s the thing that’s maybe a joy for me to walk into these walls is knowing what these kids put in to being the best they can be — and when you’re inches and fractions away, you can stomach it, because you know it’s our job to just keep pounding away to get it done.”

As we finish this year, posters should take the big picture view the just how better things are from just a few years ago, and how anyone paying attention has legitimate hope that the best is yet to come with the players and coaches we have in the program.

Looking at going to the game in Manhattan. For sure two of us, as many as 6. Been the last 3 times it's been down there, and not looking to spend much money. Ideally looking to sit in the lower corner (sec 18 and 19 I believe). Looking at tickets on StubHub and Vivid Seats but was hoping for something maybe cheaper. Any suggestions or offers, let me know! Thanks

Manning Broyles Award Nominee

Don't see the link posted in the forums. After the last "in-game" thread, I noticed a lot of Manning hate. Some even comment that they would prefer the CMC called offense of last year. Count me as someone that doesn't get that sentiment! Dude seems like a rock star to me! I don't blame him for every time someone jumps off-sides when we get inside the 20.

I always knew the back up quarterback is the most popular player on the team. Is it also true that the offensive play caller is always the most hated guy with the team?
