If CF were to break up in to 7 tribes...Which tribe are you joining? Vote in the poll and tell us why in the comments.

ALSO: Dooshers that think they are funny when they say, “where’s the option for no tribe I’m a big individual and too cool to join a tribe”...STFU and just vote dork, it’s not funny. And I say this as a friend and as a gracious favor.

Oklahoma/Utah- Who makes the Playoff?

It will probably come down to those two for #4.

Give me you reasons and thoughts as to which will make it.

As Utah is currently ranked higher, I looked at "Sagarin" to see why.
I was shocked.............OU looks dramatically better..............

New restaurant planned for Olde Main

Don't see this mentioned in another post, so merge if needed.

Ames Tribune:

Nicki and Joe Romare, owners of Whiskey River in Ames, said their plans for the building are still in the beginning phases, but they hope to open a casual restaurant in the space by late next summer.

“We are really at step one,” Nicki Romare said. “We have ideas and concepts, but we don’t have a menu, a name or anything else yet. It’s still just fresh and new.”

If they need ideas try getting the first Iowa franchise of Monk's. It's a long-time Wisconsin favorite bar and grill (Sports Bar--with more screens than any place I've been) which may be looking for their first excursion outside WI. Great food, good atmosphere, well-run and all-around awesome. I am sure it'd be a hit in Ames. I am not a big burger fan but Monk's has some of the best! https://www.facebook.com/monksbarandgrill/ also https://monksbarandgrill.com/

Is Kansas State a Rival

Do you consider Kansas State a rival?

  • Yes

    Votes: 147 71.4%
  • No

    Votes: 59 28.6%

This is the only time I’ll post here and I’ll delete my account soon after but I was curious what your fanbase thinks. Over on the K-State rivals board we had a poll before the game Saturday and the question was: Is Iowa State a rival? The result care back as Yes: 261 No: 166.

I wanted to see if you guys over here think of Kansas State as a rival now. Consensus over on our site was that at first “Farmaggedon” seemed like a manufactured attempt at a rivalry after Mizzou and Nebraska left the conference. But now it has become somewhat real with Matt Campbell as coach and you guys having a good team. Thoughts?

Also best of luck in your bowl game!

Vote online for an ISU Alumni who is a finalist in a IA photo contest

I have a professional colleague, client, fellow Cyclone and friend who is a finalist for a rural-based photo contest in IA.

They are hoping to win Best of Show and I would ask if so moved that you'd kindly click the link and go to the "vote here" line. The entry is entitled "Farm Kid Fun" and it features three kids running on hale bales. I'd super appreciate it if you'd vote for their "Farm Kid Fun" entry.

Golf Tournament Ideas

A group of us run a golf tournament (4-Person Best Shot) and we are looking for new ideas/wrinkles to improve our event. We are in our second year and want to create a full tournament this year. What types of things have you seen included with these events? Obviously, we have great pin events, hole in one sponsors, hole sponsors, a good meal, and gift bags for every player. Want to avoid any raffles if at all possible since it becomes a hassle sometimes to get them to players. Thanks for any tips!

Pro Football Focus All-Big 12 team

Pro Football Focus released its All-Big 12 team this morning so I figured I'd post Iowa State's selections here.

First-team: Charlie Kolar (TE), Mike Rose (LB)

Second-team: Breece Hall (RB), Deshaunte Jones (WR)

Third-team: Brock Purdy (QB), Chase Allen (TE), Josh Knipfel (OG), Kene Nwangwu (KR)

Honorable Mention: Tarique Milton (WR), Bryce Meeker (OT), Marcel Spears (LB), Anthony Johnson (Flex)

Kolar was also named an All-American by the site yesterday. The Big 12 will announce its official awards this week.

Mock drafts slotting Tyrese Haliburton as potential lottery pick

Just saw this afternoon Tyrese Haliburton is pegged to go No. 10 overall to the New Orleans Pelicans in the ESPN mock draft. He's at No. 17 in the most recent one on Bleacher Report as well. Figured I would start a thread that can be updated as new mocks come out during the season.

From Bleacher Report late last week:

"Haliburton's playmaking efficiency and defensive playmaking have carried over from this summer's U19 World Cup. He's the nation's [early] assist leader, but he's also coming off a career-high 25 points against Michigan on Wednesday.

There is still debate surrounding his NBA upside as a point guard who lacks burst, advanced creation skills and a strong pull-up game. Regardless, the right team, one that could surround him with athletes and shot-makers, should be able to optimize his elite passing IQ, while a consistent three-ball could give him enough scoring purpose."
