The Iowa State women’s basketball team (12-8, 4-5, Big 12) returns to Hilton Coliseum as it squares off with Oklahoma State (12-9, 3-6 Big 12) on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. on Cyclones.tv. The Cyclones trail the alltime series 36-31, but the Cyclones have won five of the last six against OSU, including sweeping the Cowgirls last season. Iowa State is looking for its second-straight sweep of OSU this season.

Let's try to be clear what is NOT to be included: Songs with the word "disease" that do not include an actual specific disease are NOT to be included. Songs about broken (or Achy Breaky) hearts are NOT to be included. Songs about getting or having "the blues" are NOT to be included. Songs that have the word "Crazy" are NOT to be included. (Although we will accept specific mental diseases as valid - as you will see one included in my first 5.)

Drugs or medications are NOT to be included unless of course the song has a disease or injury too.

As I near 56 (and retirement this year - NONhumble brag) I'm having an unwelcome pattern of neck pain which radiates into shoulder, down biceps and into my fingers causing numbness and tingling. LOTS of pain with shoulder and bad tightness of neck. Looking back at earlier health issues (carpal tunnel, biceps tendonitis, shoulder issues) and based on an MRI the cause is sadly clear. I have moderate to sever stenosis from C1-C7 with some other crap in there as well all on the left side. My last flare this summer took nearly 3 months to clear and on Sunday I had the start of another, so far worse, flare.

Started a course of prednisone to get me over the hump until I go in Monday for cervical steroid injections. Will be a first for me.

Has anyone had something similar - including epidural injections for pain relief? Did you get relief?

Has anyone had to have surgery? And did it provide relief?

How have others managed the pain and flare-ups?

One of primary reasons for an early retirement is to enjoy and active retirement (hike, bike, ski, travel) before infirmity sets in and its getting me down thinking I might have to enter the cycle of pain and mobility management.

On the plus side, my wife won't let me have a motorcycle so "hoping" I can get a very sporty Rascal to feed that jones with that sweet, sweet parking pass.

Heads up for anyone heading to KC for the Men's and/or Women's tournament. The Hampton Inn and Suites KC-Country Club Plaza is starting Renovations sometime in March this year.

I know a lot of ISU fans stay there and this could affect your stay. The web site says work will be done between 9am and 5pm.

We all know Fran's teams fade at the end of the season almost every year but it's crazy to think about the team 4 years ago. That team wasn't stacked with talent but it was definitely more talented than the team they have this year

Often on local sports radio here in Omaha the on-air guys try to rank their recruiting classes, sometimes in hindsight, sometimes projecting the future. They label recruits as a hit, a miss or a guy. Roughly, a "hit" is someone who contributes in a fairly substantial way and lived up to the recruiting hype and a "guy" is someone who plays some and helps the team but was not necessarily crucial to improving the team.

So for example, our 2016 class at ISU, I might rate in this way:

Obviously this is very subjective and that is what can make it interesting, to see how people differ on various recruits. For example, Foster has played some, but certainly has not lived up to his recruiting ranking, so I call that a miss. Some might rate him a guy since he has stayed all the way and did play and contribute. Jacob Park is what some might call a hit since he started so many games, but he could be a guy because he never really fulfilled his potential. I rated him as a miss because he just abandoned the team, maybe he had good reason, but just from a team standpoint I think he was a miss. Anyway, share your thoughts on the class if you wish. What is everyone paying per week for day care costs?

We're getting things, try anyway, lined up for day care when our little one comes. We are trying to secure a spot for an in-home daycare for our infant. The local daycare center is our back-up plan in case we can't get an in-home.
Daycare center = $240
In-home: one was $150 and the other is $185.

Looking to see what others are paying so I can get a sense of the range in the metro area.
