Drain Pipe Issue

Neighbor had an issue with some water dripping on his patio. My first thought was to get the siding off in order to help it start to dry out no matter what was causing the issue. Turns out it was the 1.5" copper drain line coming out of his disposal that seemed to have a seam that had opened. Thankfully we got to it quick enough, but man the insulation smelled like the sewer. The house was built in the 50's so the plumbing is right next to the interior drywall of the house. My question is: Is it better to just cut the pipe and put in PVC up to the were we cut the copper pipe or take a torch and heat the pipe soften the lead and pull it out replace with new copper pipe or let a plumber handle it? The T- fitting is right next to stud as seen in the picture. You can tell by the bottom picture the charred stud would how it was sweated. The double studs are for the kitchen window. The upper drain pipe comes from the sink. The leak is about 8" to the left of the cracked stud. The pipes like I said are up against the plastic sheathing.

Pat Forde predicts Cyclones to Big 12 title game

From Pat Forde's "Forde-Yard Dash"

- Minnesota, Iowa State and Missouri will all be undefeated going into November. The first College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Nov. 5. Are you ready for the Gophers, Cyclones and Tigers to all be in the top 10, and perhaps even one or two of them in the top five? Because it says right here that’s going to happen, before reality arrives like a fence post swung by Buford Pusser the following Saturday.

Minnesota, with an abundance of returning experience, will be 8-0 after playing South Dakota State, at Fresno State, Georgia Southern, at Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska, at Rutgers and Maryland. Then comes a visit from Penn State that will draw a lot of attention.

Missouri will be 8-0 after playing at Wyoming, West Virginia, Southeast Missouri, South Carolina, Troy, Mississippi (all at home), at Vanderbilt and at Kentucky. The last of those games is no lock, since Mizzou has lost four straight to the Wildcats, but karma will circle back around after last year’s robbery in Columbia. The Tigers will then lose by four touchdowns at Georgia on Nov. 9.

Iowa State will be 8-0 after playing Northern Iowa, Iowa, Louisiana-Monroe, at Baylor, TCU, at West Virginia, at Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. Then comes a trip to Oklahoma. But you heard it here first: The Cyclones are going to the Big 12 Championship Game.

A couple of football nuggets to chew on

Just a few things I heard over the weekend...

-- RB seems to be a two man show. Johnnie Lang has really emerged in the offseason. He's right there with Breece. My gut says Breece wins out but Johnnie has been impressive and will get a good chunk of carries Saturday night.

-- I asked about Will McDonald ... not entirely surprising but he's still developing at LB ... will play a lot this year but I imagine ISU is going to ease him into the every down type of role. Pretty much what we heard in the offseason .. put him in spots to be successful. Don't ask too much too early. That sort of thing.

2019 season projection

I think I need some help. I need someone to talk me down. I fully believe we will win 10 games and go to the big 12 title game. I have always been very realistic when it comes to ISU football, but in my head I can't help but feel this is crazy. That would be the best season in history by a long shot. It has to be dumb to feel this strongly about something that has never happened in the history of the program. People ask how I think we will be and I say 8-4 because I don't want to say it out loud. Tell me I'm crazy.

G7 Parking Lot Project Under Way

Was in Ames Saturday and was amazed to see the G6/G7 replacement project underway. Right up from along University. This is going to be a huge upgrade with RV pads (both electric and not) and a sky bridge over University. I didn't realize it was going to stretch from So 4th to 16th. I can't wait until next year but the walk from the current G7 to the stadium could be treacherous. Hope they make a road .

Settling foundation

I have an addition that was added on to my house (prior to purchase 3 years ago is all I know) It seems to be settling away from my house. Cracked dry wall and ceiling as well as pulling away from the roof. Anybody ever had something similar happen, if so who did you use to correct it and how much did it cost?
