I'm not super optimistic. Too many new pieces and a history of Prohm taking time to experiment first and worry about wins later. Thinking 18-13 and about .500 in conference. Hopefully on the right side of the bubble.

Saw Jojo Rabbit today. One of the best satire movies I've ever seen and one of my favorites of the year no question. Hilarious on so many levels but gut-wrenchingly sad as well. I'll be seeing it again for sure. The acting is top notch. I will be rooting for this and the actors throughout the awards season without a doubt.

GTO: As a few people on here know, I don’t drink coffee. Can’t stand the taste or even the smell of it. At all. However, my wife LOVES coffee, so I keep up with the latest advancements in coffee brewing technology. Do you know that coffee makers can be set up on a timer to brew your coffee every morning? (this has been around for a while, dude). Or are you grinding your beans every morning?

GTO: I’m pretty sure whatever “meat” is in a McRib or a McNugget can pretty much be considered a hot dog.
Pants: The McHotdog was actually tested before, most notably in Toronto. But the reason it’s not a thing is because Ray Kroc, the man that bought McDonald’s and turned it into a franchise, wasn’t a fan. He had this to say: “There's damned good reason we should never have hot dogs. Mdk2isu asks: What are your predictions for the rest of the football season? And what bowl game do we go to?
Pants: My heart says 9-3 with a loss to only Oklahoma, but my head says we’ll probably drop one other, so I’ll go with 8-4, which was my initial prediction pre-season. I won’t lie, I struggle to know which tie-ins go to where and which ones are better than others. But it will be whatever the 3rd best Big 12 tie-in is.
GTO: I’m going with 9-3 as well. If we get lucky, I could see a 10-2 and maybe a trip to the Sugar Bowl. Otherwise, we’ll be back at the Alamo Bowl. How about a matchup with Florida, since they so badly want a P5 team?

NWICY with a pair of unrelated questions that remind me of when someone is embarrassed to buy something so they add other items to their purchase: Us or the Pokes this weekend? I pick us.
Best strip joint you've ever been to?
GTO: I-S-U! I think OSU will score a few, but don’t think they have the consistency to keep it up all game. Best strip joint? Can’t say I’ve been to many. I hear people say that the strip clubs in Dallas are top notch, but I’m married with kids so I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
Pants: Us, though this one concerns me. OSU can pick up huge gains real quick, and I wasn’t overly happy about how we just continued to allow Tech to run off tackle like, all game long last week. And Best is a relative term. The most fun I’ve ever had was probably the aforementioned Hip Hugger. But the nicest was probably Deja Vu.

I don't follow as closely as I used to, but I still check in every Saturday morning to see what matchups I would like to watch. It seems like there are very few, or a few weeks, zero, marquee matchups.

Is it me? Or is this season just sorta dull?

(I am once again enjoying the Nebraska season, so that's something)

A few quick notes...


This was an exhibition game so it was an opportunity to see lots of different combinations on the floor. We saw lots of things… Good, bad, etc. there definitely will be film to look at for growth by all the players.

Nez - Just like last year she has a tendency to foul too much. She loses her feet and thus her position. This got her pulled from the game early. She did come back late and made some really good hustle plays. That’s one thing you can always expect from her is she will go 100%.

Madison - she is rocksolid. A great defender, steals the ball on a regular basis, and can hit her shots. She also rebounds like a fiend.

Rae - started at the point guard position tonight. One of her assets is she is strong and can hang onto the ball. Her assists aren’t quite as crisp as some of the other guards, but she will be a solid contributor at this position.

Nia - made too many mistakes. Got herself into some tough situations without the means to get out. she is quick, but her size is still a limiting factor in her strength and scoring.

Jade - this is going to start out as a love/hate relationship. She is lightning quick. Literally ran past players tonight. This makes her effective on defense. She can turn the ball over and she can make some stupid mistakes. Lots of potential to be a solid contributor. Did I say she was fast? She earned every minute of playing time.

AD - she has matured and she isn’t making the mistakes we saw in earlier years. Sweet shot and hustle, hustle, hustle. If she settles into a groove look out.

Joens- you can see that she has matured and looks stronger than last year. Good scoring touch as would be expected and is making solid plays inside and out. She reminds me of the heir apparent to Bridget.

Morgan - when she first came in I wasn’t impressed. She seemed slow afoot and wasn’t handling the ball well. she settled in I liked more and more of what I saw. She rebounded strong and was not afraid to take it to the hoop. Lots of potential here that needs developing.

Maggie EM - I have to say upfront that she looks like a little girl compared to everyone else. But she is the farthest thing from it. She lit up the hoop making six out of nine shots grabbing a bunch of rebounds and looking solid in her debut game. looks like a solid asset coming off the bench for this team.

Some of the other young players got in but didn’t really show much. No surprise there. As with many a first game there were spurts of action, followed by mistakes, followed by inactivity. Obviously the team had better size and better talent than the opponent and the outcome was exactly what you would expect it to be. too many turnovers (20) and a few too many misses at the line (you know me.I like perfection, but in the low - mid 80% range would be nice).

One more tune up in a game that counts against Southern next week. Then things get serious with a road trip against a very good and tough Drake team in Des Moines.
