It's that time of year, knee deep in leaves. Mow them up everyday...bag them...mow and bag... or...

Have any of you paid for leaf collecting services? Yes I'm lazy, I just don't want to deal with it. Any suggestions? How much do they charge?

I say a little prayer around Oct 25th every year that we have strong North winds for the majority of the next week or two. Huge Maple right on South side of our property line. Been lucky this year. No help for you though sorry.

I've finally gotten to the point where I can wait until they're all down before I start bagging them up. (It's tough when you have OCPD.) I like to use my Black & Decker Leaf Hogg - I rake them into a pile, then vac them up and dump into lawn bags. The Leaf Hogg mulches them up fine, and you can get way more into the bags that way.

Yes. Every year I rake them down to the curb and call someone to haul them away. When you consider how much we would spend on bags plus the time spent filling them it's more or less a wash. Totally worth it in my book.

Prices vary. I've been quoted as low as I think $50 and as high as $250. Sometimes it depends on the day or time of year. Weekends are money times for those guys since everyone who works during the week is out trying to get it done so on those days they can overcharge a bit and if someone balks it's no big deal because they're plenty busy. If you want I can PM you the contact number for the guy who collects our leaves. He's pretty reasonable, and if you can get your neighbors to go in on it with you he might knock his rate down a bit since it's easy money to just take his truck right down the block from one house to the next.

Keep your lawn extra short in the fall... let the wind carry them away. Have a couple large oaks and maples in all directions including a couple of small fruitless crabapples in my yard. Haven't raked once this Fall.

did u see ur missing a board in your fence?

When I lived in a neighborhood with mature trees I usually just blew them all into the sidewalk and pulverized them with the lawnmower then bagged them. Saved a lot of bags if you can basically turn them in to a real fine almost powder like form. Current neighbor I have 2 trees that aren't that big and neighbors all about the same size or slightly bigger so leaves are not a big problem. I just mow/mulch them into my yard now.

There are some added benefits of mulching vs raking/bagging leaves too: https://www.mnn.com/your-home/organ...ies/why-you-should-mulch-leaves-not-rake-them

I read it, I'm afraid it won't work. Too many leaves, they get soggy, etc. We've had such a wet fall!
