Hello Fanatics,
I have a pair of vouchers for two tickets to a KC Royals game this year. Picked up as part of a gift basket and I don't think we have plans to go down to KC this spring/summer. There are some restrictions listed on voucher (see photo).

I have two of these. PM me an offer.

A high schooler started a petition to try and get the NFL to play the game on Saturday instead of Sunday as Saturday isnt a school night has over 30,000 signatures now.

I think playing the game on Saturday is a good idea. College football championship should be a Saturday too.

They estimate over 17 million people will call in on monday morning to take the day off.

What do you people think.

Who you got in the challenge?

Looks like 6-4 to me if tossups given to the B12. I give WVU and Ku the best chances of winning in my B12 winning selections.

Tennessee at Kansas (4-2)

Mississippi State at Oklahoma (4-2)
- MSU holds a 3-0 series advantage. Both are 2019 NCAA tournament teams.

Oklahoma State (4-2) at Texas A&M
- OSU holds a 31-18 record with the last meeting a TAMU win in 2018.

TCU (4-2) at Arkansas

ISU/NDSU meet Postponed

https://cyclones.com/news/2020/1/18/isu-ndsu-wrestling-dual-postponed.aspx

Due to inclement weather, and travel considerations for both the Iowa State and North Dakota State wrestling teams, the wrestling dual between the Cyclones and Bison scheduled for Sunday (Jan. 19) at 2 p.m., has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Wondering if the team made it home last night with the closure of I-29 in South Dakota??

Twister Sister Summary - Cruise control

The ladies got off to a good start playing solid zone defense and being aggressive on offense. The big problem is they kept missing shots or turning the ball over. They had lots of opportunities to blow this game open early. Kansas couldn’t buy a shot and Iowa State dominated the defensive boards.

With a miracle over the shoulder toss for 3 by Maggie the first ended 18-6. It didn’t seem like the game was that close. And strangely this ended an 0-6 three point effort.

When I watch Thurmon, everyone should realize by now that when she drives everyone should be moving into position for a pass. Too often our players react a second too late and it leads to a turnover. Man is she quick off the first step!

Second quarter saw KU start to hit a few shots. We couldn’t expect them to shoot 18% the whole game! ISU kept them at arms length the entire time. Jade made some nice plays with her quickness and ISU's offense was working inside and out. Maggie especially started to gain confidence from deep and AC continues to shoot well. At the half the lead was stretched just a bit to 18 as the ladies led 47-29. My thought was...what will the dreaded third quarter bring?

Always good to see Molly at the table. She’s always so good.

The second half started with a bang and my fears of another bad third vanished. I probably sat there with a silly grin on my face as I watched the offensive fireworks. Maggie and AC continued to rain threes on the Jayhawks. ISU was able to run a few different lineups and give breaks to key players. Besides the outside shooting, it appeared Maggie was gaining confidence. She played solid defense and got aggressive on offense. She had a particularly pretty drive in the third. A 31 point lead is where things stood at that point.

The fourth started off pretty ugly. Lots of missed shots and turnovers again. Didn’t take long for KU to cut into the lead by 7. Our defense just seemed to be lacking and the offense was messy. Of course some of that had to do with the lineup changes. It was a pretty even game the rest of the way as all the starters were on the bench. Unlike years past, the lead didn’t evaporate. Yes, KU cut into it, but the game was never in doubt.

In the end the ISU three point deluge was too much for a team that looked like a last place squad. I don’t know how they played Texas so tough. The real tests begin as ISU goes to Baylor and then travels to WVU. That’s lots of miles and against two of the best the league has to offer. I don’t know what to expect, but am looking forward to a more confident sisters team in these tests.

Thoughts...

Camber - one of the best all around games I’ve seen from her. Rebounding, scoring, defense. It was all there.

Joens - she just keeps doing what she does. She’s the blue collar worker on this team and she bangs with the best of them.

Espenmiller-McGraw - this was like a coming out party for Maggie. She did everything today leading the team in scoring with a hot shooting hand. She contributed in many ways that don’t show up on the stat sheet

Scott - we are consistently seeing the Scott we remembered from last year. She is scoring inside and out while playing solid D and grabbing boards.

Thurmon - she has changed this team and how they function. Yes the turnovers are there (as discussed above), but she changes things.

Free Throws. We didn’t shoot a lot, but had more misses than I care for.

Overall a solid game with exceptional three point shooting. Def fun for the fans.

Twister Sister Summary - changeup leads to much needed win

Many have been clamoring for more minute for Jade Thurmon. Today they got their wish as Jade was put into the starting lineup and what a difference she made. The first half was all Joens and Scott as they were practically the only two scoring. Fortunately Nez and Jade added just enough to keep OSU from pulling ahead too far. But the lack of scoring was evident as the sisters only tallied 25 in the first half.

For a change the third quarter was not our enemy. The ladies came out after halftime to dominate the third. Rather than a two headed beast there was more balanced scoring and the ladies turned on the gas over the last few minutes to edge ahead. Of course we know the ladies won, but was impressed me (and distressed me) were the last few minutes.

During the last 1:30 or so the bad part was ISU wouldn’t score. But what was fun was watching the defense. In particular watching Thurmon seeming to be everywhere using her speed to harass whoever had the ball. The team shut the door on OSU and walked away with the one point win.

A few notes...
Wise is making a difference. She may not be scoring a lot, but her minutes provide relief and take the heat off the other guards.

Thurmon was a difference maker. Not a high percentage shooter (but I think that may change with continued playing time) she still put in 10 points and her speed made the team look different.

Free throws...the team continues to make opponents pay when our ladies are allowed to get to the line.

Assists. This was the most disturbing part of the game. Only 6 assists on 23 baskets along with NINETEEN turnovers won’t cut it. And no...Thurmon didn’t have most of them. She only had 3 which is not too shabby.

This win came at a big time for the team. It stemmed the bleeding and had to restore some faith. Seeing Thurmon step up helped and having Wise continue to contribute in a big way sure helps. Up next are two very winnable games against the wheat teams. Both are at home and the ladies need a rowdy home crowd to help with the home cooking. Two wins would also get them on the positive side of the conference record.

Sisters vs Kansas, 1/25/20

Kansas vs. Iowa State
Date/Time: Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. (CT)
Where: James H. Hilton Coliseum (Ames, Iowa)
Listen: Jayhawk Radio Network with Jimmy Chavez
Watch: Cyclones TV (Subscription needed) with Dave Sprau and Molly Parrott calling the game.

I've never started one of these before, so here goes:

In looking at their roster, they could make things difficult for us, as 4 of their top six scorers are guards, and we often struggle to limit penetration. I am guessing we could see more of the zone/hybrid defense, maybe even a box and 1 while trying to limit Kersgieter's touches (shoots over 40% from 3). They forced Texas into 21 turnovers. Our press break may be crucial.

Go State !!!
