The boy has decided to go to ISU in computer engineering. We didn't research dorms at all since he was going West or East coast until recently. I lived in Friley so..... He is looking at Martin but really doesn't have a clue. He needs to fill out housing asap of course- Cheers!

With the Stanley Cup finishing tonight, came to the unhappy realization that the dog days of the sports calendar are upon us. Almost two months to the day until college football kicks off the start of next year's calendar. Going to be a long summer.




And don't give me this whole baseball thing. Baseball is what you watch when you need a nap and the golf gallery is being a bit too vocal to let you doze off.

Iowa venture capitalist John Pappajohn died on April 22 at 94 years old. I recall that he donated a significant amount to ISU at some point in the 90's. I may be mistaken, but that is my recollection.

I was driving down Duff Avenue in Ames the other day and see this beige High Country GMC pickup and see the plate PRDU FN. I got a closer and see it is on a Iowa Hawkeye personalized with a Purdue license plate frame trying to cover up the Iowa Hawkeye lettering. I wanted to take a picture of it but I actually had an Ames PD car behind me and my wife was also frowning on the idea of me taking it.

I guess you have to make the best of living in Iowa and being a Purdue fan. Also the "gold" color just isn't the same for both schools. Love the fact they express their loyalty of being a Purdue Fan at the expense of the Hawkeyes!!

Still the HAWKSTD plate is the best in my book. Just can't fix stupid I guess.

Doing some exterior projects soon and was thinking about renting out a dumpster. This would be in the Des Moines area. Anyone have any recommendations for who to rent it from? Looking to rent it for about a week.

I'm curious if anyone else has run into this. I'm browsing instagram and the site refreshes and says my account is suspended for community standards violation. I haven't posted in months, maybe even a year, so this is goofy. It asks for me to verify my mobile number with a text which I complete, then it gives me this page.

Is this crap for real??? I will walk away from my account before I comply with that. It really feels like a MITM attack.

I tried watching "I Survived Bear Grylls" last night for the first time and I only lasted 10 minutes before I switched channels in disgust. Grylls has finally succeeded in turning the survival genre of reality TV into a clown circus. It was just totally unwatchable. I've enjoyed other Grylls shows, even though he's been accused of faking a lot of it, but each iteration of his different shows has seemingly gotten worse along the way, leading up to this fiasco. A hard pass for me.

I’m redoing my deck, and I need to move two bird’s nests. One that is right under the main deck boards.

I have another nest that is inside the gas fireplace exterior vent, which obviously gets extremely warm when the fireplaces is on, fortunately not an issue this time of year.

looking for any advice on how to move both nests without harming the baby birds that are in them? And where should I put the nests?

I was watching Seinfeld reruns and the one where Jerry and George steal the nazi’s limo was on. The woman in that limo is ALSO a different character in Seinfeld later. She plays Poppy’s niece.

But then just now I was channel surfing and Weird Science is on and I see one of the main girls and am like wait that’s her!

The Bells of Iowa State is one of Iowa State University traditions, remembered with affection by both alumni and campus visitors. This project built a 1:5 scale replica of the campanile and a 27-bell carillon that is accessible, functional and portable. This model serves as an extension of the legacy of Iowa State beloved campanile and the carillon. It is being used at various University events and outreach programs and will also serve as a musical instrument and an educational tool. Many will enjoy the musical experiences, and learn the complex engineering of the carillon.

Traer has a direct connection to the campanile carillon. Julia Wentch Stanton was born and raised in Traer. She graduated from Iowa State college in 1888 and became a member of the mathematics faculty in 1893. She married Dean Edgar W. Stanton in 1899 after the death of his 1st wife and later became dean of women at Ames. As executrix of Stanton’s estate, she oversaw the bequest of an additional 26 bells for the campanile in 1928.

Come, bring your lawn chair, and see the model at Traer from 1-5 on Saturday, June 3, with a program at 3:00. Try your hand at playing it! Weather permitting.
