STORY: Iowa State revels in 'delightful' Cy-Hawk win by Rob Gray

Iowa State will revel in its 'delightful' Cy-Hawk win over Iowa for quite some time.

Rob Gray takes you through the biggest win by margin of victory for Iowa State in Cy-Hawk history.

Robert Jones Improvement

While this year might be a bit skewed due to no Big 12 opponents yet, its still remarkable how far he has come since his first year here. Props to him and the coaching staff coaching him up.

New Podcast Episode of Reaction Time

Hello!

Ben and I recorded on Monday so keep that in mind as we discuss aware we didn't have updated rankings yet but we talked about what we think winning CKLV meant for the team and the rest of their season, we talked potential wrestle-offs and of course Yonger Basitda's dominance.

New house build: tank water heater vs. tankless water heater

Hey fellow Fanatics, we just signed the paperwork to build a new house that will be ready sometime this coming summer, and one of the things that my wife and I have been wrestling with is: do we go with the 50gal gas-fired standard tank water heater that the builder will supply, should we upgrade to a larger 75gal (~ $2600 upcharge), or upgrade to tankless water heater (~ $3000 upcharge)? Another option we would have is to add a hot-water recirculation line throughout the house for something like $1500, so we'd have instant hot water at all taps.

We have a family of 6, and the 4 kids are all teen/pre-teen girls, so showers take like 7 hours.... only a slight exaggeration there. What is everyone's experience with tank vs. tankless, and also a recirc line? My concern is that the tankless can't keep up with that kind of hot water demand, but the upcharge on the 75gal tank seems pretty high.

Would love to hear thoughts and feedback. Thanks!

Random thread of Astrophotography

Like Angie's thread on general photography, I'm creating this thread for the folks who like to shoot skyward between dusk and dawn, or even beyond that if you're into solar or lunar photography. I am in no way anywhere close to Trevor Jones or Alyn Wallace, but I suspect more than a few folks would like to be. Here I hope folks will share:

-Beautiful examples of their work
-Locations with dark skies to safely shoot after dark, in Iowa or elsewhere
-Technique, in the field to post-processing
-Gear info

The Geminid meteor shower is less than a week away, and December is the darkest month of the year, so let's kick this off. Here's an hour of stacked data of Orion that I shot from Shelby County during the last new moon. I used an astro-modified Canon 6D and a Tamron 85mm f/1.8 lens riding on an iOptron Skytracker Pro. This was somewhat experimental, but worked out pretty well. Two or three times more exposure would bring out an impressive amount of nebulosity, I'm sure.
