Friday OT #2 - Don't Cross the Streams

My husband and I were watching Severance on Apple TV last night (if you haven't seen it and like sort of sci fi-ish, dark dramas, it's great). He mentioned that he had read an article recently about how Amazon Prime is sort of losing the streaming war between the really big guns, that HBO Plus is incredibly successful, and so on.

What streaming services do you use? What are your shows you love on each?

Here's what we've got - we don't watch a ton of TV, but we'll watch an episode of something after the kids go to bed usually to systematically get through a series:

Apple TV - Severance, Ted Lasso, Morning Show. We thought The After Party was fun.

Amazon Prime - only have the one that comes with our Amazon subscription. Husband watched Wheel of Time and The Boys, I know I need to see Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I've watched some of their movies and documentaries, but I can't think of any series offhand?

Hulu (packaged with Disney+ for the kids) - Only Murders In the Building, several documentary series, I watched the Tommy Lee & Pamela series (I'm ashamed to admit). The Great is on my to-watch list.

Netflix - BoJack, Russian Doll, Mindhunter, Queen's Gambit, Big Mouth, Ozark, I watch The Crown and Master of None, husband watches The Witcher.

We have also seen Succession but don't subscribe to HBO Plus, and Barry is on my list to watch. I heard that True Detective is coming out with a third season - we watched the first two when they originally came out.

I don't know the last time I've watched any actual channels of TV. I record a couple of PBS British dramas, I guess, but that's it.

Do you use streaming services? If so - what is your list?

Friday OT #1 - Very Superstitious, Ladder's 'Bout To Fall

A Facebook friend posted about her lucky Cyclone game-day socks during the Round of 32 - she'd lost one of them, but felt so strongly about their efficacy that she still wore the one she could find. I figured it was timely today.

Do you have any rituals or superstitions in which you'll be participating today for the game? Certain clothing items, playing a certain song, whatever you got?

"If you don’t do that, then why are we doing this?”

Cyclones ready for challenge of forcing Hurricane turnovers

WBB: Breaking down Creighton and a familiar style of basketball

Iowa State and Creighton play vastly similar types of basketball.

The good news for Cyclone fans? This team does phenomenally well against it.

Recruiting: Iowa State set to host number of ’23 prospects this weekend

Iowa State’s spring football period is officially underway and the program is set to bring in its first wave of visits for the period this weekend.

On the list is a priority target in in-state prospect Kai Black out of Urbandale. The three-star wideout and No. 5 prospect in Iowa owns offers from Iowa State, Iowa, Minnesota and Kansas among others.

Black is the only prospect from the state in for a visit this weekend, but there are still some familiar names coming into Ames.

The highest rated prospect taking a visit comes with four-star defensive lineman Edric Hill, who boasts offers from Alabama, Oregon, Iowa State and more. The 6-foot-7, 271-pounder is rated as the No. 7 prospect in Missouri.

The Cyclones will also be bringing in three more defensive lineman for the weekend, as well as an edge rusher. Three-star prospects from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in Jason...

WILLIAMS: My ATS Sweet 16 picks

CHICAGO — I’ve got a few minutes before things will get too busy here at the United Center. Let’s have some fun. Here are my against the spread picks for the Sweet 16.

THURSDAY NIGHT

4 Arkansas vs. 1 Gonzaga, 6:09 p.m. on CBS —  This just seems like A LOT of points to give a good Arkansas team with a top 15 KenPom defense. The Zags struggled to put away Memphis in the Round of 32 and Eric Musselman can coach. Gonzaga wins but Arkansas keeps this respectable.

The pick: Arkansas (+10)

11 Michigan vs. 2 Villanova, 6:29 p.m on TBS — It just feels to me like Michigan is a destiny type of team this March. They are playing for their once embattled coach. The Wolverines convincingly took care of Colorado State and Tennessee last weekend. It’s hard to bet against Jay Wright though. Led by perhaps the best coach in all of college basketball, Nova has won seven games in a row and made quick work of another Big Ten team, Ohio State in the...
