ESPN GameDay Submits OnAir Personalities for Fake Emmys

LOL. The GameDay show won many Emmys, but the on air personalities were not eligible to receive awards since they had their own categories. For years, ESPN submitted fake names as part of the production staff and then removed the trophy label and made new ones to accomodate the on air personalities. The funniest part is the silliness of the fake names.

Kirk Henry (Kirk Herbstreit), Lee Clark (Lee Corso), Dirk Howard (Desmond Howard), and Tim Richard (Tom Rinaldi) appeared in all seven years. Steven Ponder (Sam Ponder) and Gene Wilson (Gene Wojciechowski) appeared in five from 2014-18. Chris Fulton (Chris Fowler) appeared in 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015. Shelley Saunders (Shelley Smith) appeared in the 2010 credit list. Smith was also given an Emmy for the show’s win in 2008, though it is unclear how that statuette was obtained; Shelley Saunders was not listed in the 2008 credit list viewed by The Athletic. However, networks are allowed to modify a credit list after a show is announced as a winner.

While reviewing the 2010 and 2011 credit lists, The Athletic found three additional names that could not be verified that also closely resemble the names of “College GameDay” talent: Erik Andrews (Erin Andrews) in 2011; Wendy Nickson (Wendi Nix) and Jenn Brownsmith (Jenn Brown) in 2010.

NA White Claw

I saw this the other day in the liquor store going for $15/12 pack and I was just completely taken aback. What am I missing here?

Now, I'm a huge proponent of high quality NA products. I frequently consume them when I don't want booze, and it's a really nice way for a lot of people who've had substance abuse problems to stay sober but feel more apart of the social scene.

But flavored seltzer water has existed for decades. Hell, alcoholic seltzer was born from this product in the first place. And it's MUCH less expensive than $15/12 pack. It seems to me this is some of the most absurd, shameless marketing/marking up of all time. Am I the a$$hole here?

Friday OT: Snow Day

What are your favorite snow day activities? Do you go out and brave the elements to snowshoe or build a snowman? Do you cuddle in front of the fire?

Our children went out and built a miniature snowman on Monday, and both made themselves an entire activity list. Snow angels, hot chocolate, building a fort. They each checked them all off!

On That Note: Let It Snow

First off we are sorry for the delay this week. The mbb game led us to delay a day then the schedules of the OTN hosts and technology issues led us to delay another day.

With the snow we have had here in Midwest and going to get again we are looking for all songs with lyric or title mentions of snow or any compounds words with snow in them.

“On That Note” is presented weekly by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

Why Have We Struggled Against Oklahoma State???

TJ is 1-3 against Mike Boynton and ISU is 1-7 over the last 8 games. The last home win was 1/21/2020

The last three for TJ's squad against the Cowboys have been BRUTAL to watch:

  1. 2/11/2023 - Home Loss, only scoring 56
  2. 1/21/2023 - Away Loss, only scoring 59
  3. 3/2/2022 - Home Loss, only scoring 36
  4. 1/26/2022 - Away WIN, OT win by 3, scored 84 (Brockington Game)

I'm riding high off the Houston win, but a quite concerned we take a BAD loss on Saturday...

ESPN returns 37 Emmys that were fraudulently obtained

"ESPN returned dozens of Emmy statues and “disciplined” employees after an investigation disclosed Thursday found that the sports network had submitted fake names to the awards organization in a bid to secure trophies for on-air personalities who had been ineligible to receive them.

The apparent fraud stretched back to 1997, ESPN said in a statement, acknowledging that members of its team “were clearly wrong” for concocting the scheme."
