Student season tickets

My son is an incoming freshman. He did not get selected in the lottery for season tickets for football and basketball. He's pretty bummed about it.

It's been a long time since I was at ISU and would love insight from some of you current or more recent students about how he could go about getting tickets.

Is there a student group web site or app that allows students to share or transfer tickets to other students?

Cardinal and Gold Standard Tent For Sale

Hi All - my organization purchased a season tent pass for the cardinal and gold tents in Harvester Plaza (this will be the location this year due to CyTown construction). We have purchased a port-a-potty add on, as well. Each tent comes with one vendor parking pass and three parking passes.

In the map below, our tent will be #2! if interested, let me know!

Friday OT - Bucket List

About a year ago, I got a chance to fulfill a longtime dream to drive a Zamboni as part of a class through Ames Parks and Rec. I was just terrible, burnt out terribly, but it was everything I had dreamed and more. My daughter was there to take video and was mortified that I had zero chill.

What is on your bucket list? What items have you fulfilled? Did they live up to it?

STORY: Ben Nikkel earns a scholarship — and "controlled chaos" ensues

Hi, all! Great to be back. Please read my story (linked at the end) on Ben Nikkel being rewarded with a scholarship earlier this week. It's always so cool to see the emotion from Coach Campbell and all the players when this happens. https://cyclonefanatic.com/?p=399048556&preview=true&_thumbnail_id=399048557

Williams & Blum Wednesday: Basketball in the Bahamas, realignment rummage

My apologies. Forgot to post this on here yesterday. Enjoy.

Potential Tailgating Bus

If anyone is looking for a tailgate bus let me know and I will put you in contact with the nonprofit that owns it.

————-
Hey everyone. We are trying to sell our old bus so I am posting it on my page along with the A's page. It is a 94, 44 passenger bus. It still runs very good with some newer tires on it. The one problem with it is that its AC is not good. Everything else runs pretty smooth on it. We are looking to get 8,000 out of it or best offer. If you have more questions or are interested in buying this piece of history, just message me or shoot me a text.

RIP Rodriguez

I was planning on typing something up about him this morning anyway, but CBS Morning Show did a nice segment on him today.

Sixto Rodriguez, known as Rodriguez, was a psychedelic folk artist from the late '60s and '70's, His albums were critically acclaimed, but did not sell in the United States. However, he had a huge following in South Africa, where his songs about sex, drugs, and rebellion were very popular with the young folks fighting against apartheid. There was a documentary about him in 2012, called "Searching for Sugar Man". Here are a few of my favorites of his:

Principal Financial-Remote work

Well if you got hired for 100% remote work, you better hope you don't work within 30 miles of Des Moines. During the pandemic, Principal went out on hiring spree where they recruited a ton of IT help across the country. Now if you live within 30 miles of Des Moines, even if you were promised to be 100% full time remote, you now have to go back into the office. So if you live 35 miles from Des Moines, we think you can do your job from home but if you live in beaverdale, get the **** in the office.

Sounds Like IRS Might Get Serious About Collectives

Just saw that IRS sent a letter to Texas A&M about its 12 Man+ plus collective. A&M had structured their collective to include donor benefits for their NIL Collective. They dared the NCAA to act and Texas legislature created a law prohibiting NCAA from enforcement against Texas schools.

The IRS might just be a bigger dog.

Robbie Robertson, leader of The Band, dies at 80

Robbie Robertson, a Canadian musician and songwriter who made his mark in the late 1960s and early '70s as the leader of the influential rock group The Band, died Wednesday after a long illness. Robertson played lead guitar and wrote some of The Band’s best-known songs, including “The Weight,” “Up on Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.”
But it was Robertson's appearance in "The Last Waltz," a 1978 documentary about the group's farewell concert that was directed by Martin Scorsese, that made him a star. Robertson went on to produce scores and curated songs for Scorsese movies like "Raging Bull," "The Departed," "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "The Irishman."

Hats off for Robbie.

Lahaina, Maui wildfire damages (Maui Invitational location)

This is where the Maui Invitational takes place. We were there the last time ISU played (2018, I think?). Beautiful little city. There is a 150 year old Banyan tree in the heart of the downtown that we visited often while there. It takes up most of a city block. It appears to be destroyed. :(
