NFL: ***2023 San Francisco 49ers***

Seems like there should be an official 49ers thread for this season since Purdy will be the starting QB and a lot of Cyclone fans will be paying attention. I didn't see one anywhere in the forums, so hope I didn't just miss it. Figure it makes sense to have everything about the season (now that it's just days away) in one place.

I'll start with this news from earlier this afternoon about Nick Bosa FINALLY reaching an agreement with SF:

Williams & Blum Wednesday: Cy-Hawk, Big 12 week 2 preview

Enjoy!

Another example of how no one should ever look at Rotten Tomatoes for reviews/consensus

I cringe when I see anyone talk about how movie X has a Rotten Tomato score of X as if it really means something. It's been absolute garbage for years and has only gotten worse the pasts few years basically letting any Joe be a critic. Now this...

DO NOT USE RT AS A SOURCE TO SAY A MOVIE IS GOOD OR BAD.

Brock Purdy named as a 49ers Captain

Brock Purdy has been named as a 49ers Captain for the 2023 season:

Darren Wilson Jr. signs with Iowa Barnstormers

Excited to have a former Cyclone in Des Moines again!

Cy-Hawk Game Discussion

Wednesday of game week, and I've read enough about ticket scanners. Let's talk about the game.

This is probably the most similar the two teams have been in as long as I can remember, and that's really intriguing to me.
-Two of the best coordinators, with two very good defenses, led by the secondaries.
-Both are conservative on offense, with new qbs, less than stellar Oline, and questions at WR.
-Iowa probably has the special teams advantage because of their punter, and just past track record.

Both sides is strength vs weakness, so it's seems like the team that makes less mistakes, doesn't turn it over, and maybe hits one or two big plays, will have the big advantage.
