Zeb Noland

After half when Kempt came back in street clothes, there was a shot of the team doc checking him out on the sidelines. He seemed to be checking his chest in the sternum area. I think it's legit.
Hadn't seen that. I just thought it was kinda weird that they knew about it all week, but then it was all of a sudden so bad that he had to take his pads off, after leading us to two TDs.

Zeb has great arm strength, but will make freshman mistakes. He can make the downfield throws we've been missing the last few weeks, but doesn't have the back shoulder throw down yet. Hopefully the staff stays committed to the run game as that will really help Zeb. His reps are great for the future.

Sounds like KK was playing hurt and went a far as he could. Zeb did a great job. Tough position to be put in when you have to score nearly every time to stay in the game.

My biggest concern is what do you do if Zeb gets hurt? There is literally no one left to play QB. Do you go with Lanning or full time wildcat?

IDK exactly when it was, other than it was after an incomplete 3rd down pass (maybe a 3 and out?) but Kempt went to the sideline and ran immediately to the Jacobson building lower level (behind the band) with an athletic trainer and one or two docs right behind him. Initially thought he just had to pee until I saw the medical staff following. Came back out not too long after while OSU still had the ball. Can't recall if he went in again for another series after that or not.

I looked for him a few times in the second half but from the upper deck thought I was just missing him in the crowd of players. Didn't realize he wasn't even in uniform for the second half.

Also kind of wondering if ISU will get one of those sideline medical tents for next year.

Kempt's lack of arm strength really helps on the back shoulder throws. Noland has to learn to take a little bit off so the receiver can come back to the ball. But his downfield passing was very impressive. The pass to Eaton and to Ryen especially stood out. Very encouraging.

Didn't see the game after the halfway point of the 3rd quarter on but Zeb's got more zip on the ball and a quicker release which makes a big difference.

If he's the starter this week, we'll find out how good he is vs. teams with tape on him. Getting excited about a QB's first game is kind of like excitement around a team coming out looking good on the 1st series of offense. Let things play out to see what's really there.

Big props to Kempt for doing what he's done in arguably the greatest stretch of ISU football in at least the modern era. If nothing else he was generally smart with the ball.

I went to the Wisky game tonight and be glad ISU does't have their QB. Iowa had something like 20 yards of offense mid-3rd quarter but had 2 pick 6's on just bad decisions to make it a game.

Is it that hard to believe he was hurt and then after he got hit a few times it was enough to take him out? He was good at the start.
Bingo! He got hurt 1st half @WV. Got treatment at halftime and kept playing. He didn't practice till Thurs this week. When into todays game very sore. Tried to play through it, but reagrevated it and pain became too much. Pectoral muscle right underneath the collar bone.

Definitely explains why the offense suddenly struggled after owning the Okie State defense, and then resumed the owning with Zeb.

Whats the outlook for the rest of the season?

If that's the case then it doesn't sound like he'll be back soon. But, might be a bit of a controversy If Zeb plays well and KK is fully recovered for the bowl game.

Won't be controversy. Zeb is the future for this team. Kyle knows he was fill in till Zeb was ready. He had a hell of a run in October, and that allowed the coaches to not have to rush Zeb. They are good friends and genuinely happy for each others successes.
