Zeb Noland transferring

Transferring is fine. Following the Jacob Park leaving-in-the-middle-of-season path is not fine

It’s really the way college football is going, isn’t it? Mid season transfers have always happened. Kids are now sitting out of bowl games to protect themselves. Nick Bosa at Ohio State just left his team mid season to prep for the NFL draft.

With transfer rules easing and kids focused on protecting themselves for transfers / draft, loyalty is evolving and the doors of college football teams will just be rotating faster and faster.

I guess he waited for Kyle to get healthy? I understand but I still feel like he owes the team to stick it out to the end of the year. Brock’s getting pummeled. God willing he makes it the rest of the games, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he doesn’t.
He has been a great. Let him walk in peace. He will will always be a clone to me.

Zeb is a good player but not the greatest fit in Campbell's system. When I watch Zeb play, I could see him playing in an SEC game. Who knows if he was that talented but I can imagine him playing for a Tennessee or Miss State.

I view him more as a Jared Barnett type of talent level and he might go down a level.

Different situation in the fact that Park was "the guy" when he left. We had no idea that Kempt was going to do what he did, and Zeb was still unproven, so there was real cause for concern. Right now, we don't have that issue with Purdy's emergence and a known asset with Kempt as backup.

Wishing Zeb well, and that whatever situation he ends up in is the best for him.

I find CMC's comments interesting about good he feels about the QB position depth with or without Zeb. I know he has to say that probably, but I sure don't feel very good about it without Zeb.

Add to that, CMC also has no problem with Purdy's aggressive play either.

So we have Purdy, who is taking a tremendous amount of big hits with how he plays, sitting at #1.

At #2 we have Kempt who didn't look good in his limited time against Iowa, coming off of injury and was in a boot 2 weeks ago in street clothes against WV, and hasn't played now for quite a while.

At #3 we probably have Mitchell who has never played a single down of college football. He's more of a runner than passer too.

At #4 is likely Devon Moore. Complete unknown.

I'm sorry coach, but without Zeb, we could be in trouble the remainder of this season with any injuries.

If this is true, would we now look to add another QB to next year's class? We have Easton Dean coming in next year, and Bouman the following year.

I look forward to the time where people come here to help grow Iowa the right way.

It is kind of easy and boring to use the "I didn't get my way", "My momma told me....", and "my passion..." excuses to behavior. So Boring. Everyone can't be a starter on a team...hell, the dirty thirty had thirty, not 22. Related to that, I do not think coaches should run off players that have committed to a team and school.

You're right, he should of just said if Purdy goes down we are F*****. That way the whole team doesn't want to play for a coach that doesn't believe in them. Got it.

Totally. These kids should just accept that they’ll spend the rest of their careers being the backup to a younger player instead of trying to find a fit where they can start and do what they love in the very limited amount of time they’re given to.

On the outside the timing looks weak. Mid-season bail isn't optimal

But we don't know the whole story. We aren't in the room. We aren't in his head.

Zeb has been a respectable member of the team. He's represented our school well.

I wish him the best of luck if he says or goes and throughout his entire life

I wouldn’t call Mitchell more of a runner than a passer. He’s a passer than can run really well.
So is Dean.

From what I’ve read it’s Mitchell’s running ability that gives him a chance to lead a productive Big 12 offense. Even if he’s Barnett level at passing, a guy with his running ability can be a great change of pace. I think he’s talented enough we could use him at multiple positions to really allow the staff to be creative and give the defense fits.

Seems like a really good kid, and talented enough to start elsewhere. He's just caught behind a freshman sensation, and with Kempt back, third string with a likelihood of 2nd string for the rest of his career (barring injury) is a tough future to consider. Definitely wish him the best if he is indeed transferring.
