Loyalty is a dumb concept that no longer exists. Coaches leave their players all of the time for other jobs. Players transfer. Employees jump at the chance for a higher paying job. Employers fire employees that have been there for 30 years so they can pay someone less. Loyalty is a term that died in the 50s.
The only person you should be loyal to and lookout for is yourself.
Interesting. I've watched a game with Andy at a friends house back in the day and didn't see any lean, let alone disdain. If I had to guess he really wants both to do well so that he has more content to talk about. I think most of our local guys that are fans don't hide that. Ross, Chris, Heather, Tommy, etc. The ones that didn't grow up here have no allegiance other than how it affects their job. Some people are just too sensitive to outside criticism. Hawk fans think Murph and Andy hate them.

Burton was the only one of those that left the team during the season. McKay probably had some practices in when he announced in Mid-October but he hadn't played a game yet that season. Burton also had to leave when he did so he could start his sit out time in the spring semester of his transfer year and be able to start second semester the following year.
Whole different set of circumstances IMO.
I wish Zeb would stay here and finish out the year, but it's not my decision. He would be very valuable to us as a good teammate and provide good depth at the QB position. I will never hold a grudge against someone for making a personal decision to better their situation, to hold that grudge or be "mad " at someone in these types of situations is very selfish on the part of the fans.

These concepts are not mutually exclusive.
Given he agreed to a scholarship this year that we could have otherwise used elsewhere, he definitely is quitting and is a quitter. He needs to maximize his utility and being a quitter is often needed to do that, but the fact it makes sense for him doesn’t change that he did quit.
With Purdy, Dean, and Mitchell transferring definitely has merit. In a different offense he would stand a much better chance of winning a QB competition. I’d love to see him get a shot to play behind a good P5 OL that doesn’t rely on short passes to inconsistent receivers.

I get this. I was replying to you, but really it was meant to all the people calling him a quitter, bad teammate, etc.
I can see and understand sticking around being fun. But I can also sympathize in how that would be hard and sometimes it is easier or better for you to move on and start your next chapter despite good things to come.
My point still stands with maybe the exception of Shayok. Both McKay and Burton were committed to their team and in their season (albeit maybe just practice for McKay) when they decided to leave. We directly benefited from their lack of "loyalty". ISU fans seem to easily forgive and forget when we are the benefactor.
People are ignoring that perhaps this wasn't just Zeb's decision. He might have come clean to coach and said at the end of the season I am planning to transfer and possibly Campbell said that if you are planning to go it is best if you go now.

The part that confuses me is that there was no indication that he was going to do this. He wasn't pouting and by all indications he was still totally engaged. It's not like he was a burden or anything either.
I find this hilariously ironic you posted this on cyclonefanatic, where you have been a member since 2008. Only thing that would be better if your tag line said "Loyal Sons Forever True"
Yeah, my best uneducated guess is that he thought it might be harder to do so at the end of the end of the season as opposed to now. I don't know. I can certainly sympathize with that feeling.
good to see @VeloClone and @cstrunk are going to look out for me so I don't have to lookout for myself.
