He needs to learn how to catch the ball on punt returns with tacklers right in his face. He almost cost us 2 turnovers because he dropped the ball. I don't want this to be another Blum situation.

sandvig is struggling, i wanna see some R JAAAAAYYY Sumrall. Not to mention james smith got burnt twice once he lucked out and the qb overthrew the reciever but the other time it resulted in a deep pass for a touchdown.

Talent issues. Those are most likely the best players we have at those spots. Not the kid's fault, they probably shouldn't be in there in the first place, but have to be.

I'll give Sandvig a break this game, their punter absolutely blew, and he was trying to catch every punt with the entire Kent State team around him. Obviously he needs to be ready for these situations and definately can't drop a ball when guys are in the area but I'll allow him to get first game jitters out of the way. Although with the hit he took on the fair catch interference penalty, I doubt he will be jitter free for the next game.

I wouldn't worry about that. He immediately got up after the hit and jogged off the field whiel waving his arms in the air.

Just not smart. JJ Moses was much better at sizing up the fair call or to run. I think Sandvig will be benched.

It was his first collegiate game. His first game of anykind in almost 2 calendar years. Give him a break. You are only recalling the junior and senior Moses. This will take time. A program is built from the bottom up.

Post of the day right here:notworthy: Once Zac gets a little smarter he'll catch those balls he fumbled with. We need to get the kid a tutor so he can smarten out those plays.

I personally would have said "Just not EXPERIENCED"...I'm guessing that will come with time (but not if Chizik takes your advice and benches him)

Anyone else feel he desearved to get plowed on that last one in a good way. I mean you drop too, why not steam roll over the guy and take him out of the play from recovering it.

*shocker* he caught it, but now he knows what it feels like to get hit. Maybe he wont drop any more. <crosses fingers>

Sandvig is a little jitterbug who can really do some damage in punt returns. Before it is all said and done, he will be an asset to this team both as a corner and a returner, just takes time.

My thoughts exactly. The coaches left him in so he would learn to deal with game pressure.

I assume you mean Milan, he is not the fastest or shiftest player on the team but did seem to find a way to get it up the field on kick returns last year.
