Your trash at your tailgate spot.

I’m not sure anyone collects cans anymore. At least not in our area. Because we used to do the same thing. Now we try to clean up before we go.
The Iowa game a guy was going through a dumpster collecting cans. He had $50 already and said that’s all he does. Leave the deposit returnable cans in a sack.

Were they taking them to Michigan?
Not sure where they ended up, but the back of the U-haul had maybe 10-15 full garbage bags full. And this was immediately after the game. No telling how much longer they were there cleaning up after people.

After the Iowa game, I saw a family loading up the back of a U-Haul truck with bags of cans they had collected from the lots during the game.
A few years ago a coworker went to a lions game in detroit. Deposit is 10 cents there. They said the rick folks would chuck their cans then watch the homeless fight each other for them.

Why do some people think it is okay to dump their shot bottles and trash all over the ground while tailgating and then just load up and leave it for the people that clean the lots? You were offered a garbage bag upon entry, USE it. S1 space 9. I wished I would have taken a picture of their license plate before entering the game.

Take pictures and tweet at ISU. Nothing corrects behavior faster than public shaming.

They need a big can recycle Bing u can chuck cans at like floating down the river. That way it can be a game and can collectors can get them some cans

The answer is because there're far too many people who have no respect for anything that isn't theirs and they have even less respect for the people who have to fix/clean up whatever mess they leave. This, along with borrowing something, breaking it and then returning it like nothing happened are my biggest pet peeves. Drives me absolutely crazy.

Because kids come pick them up during the game for the redemption. But only cans, everything else is picked up.

There were at least 3 different groups digging through RV Village dumpsters late on Saturday night and another few on Sunday morning. One of the guys has an old pickup truck with rigging for big bags of cans. I estimate that he gathers $500+ in cans for each truckload.

And the same dumpster gets worked over multiple times. Sometime, they get in the dumpsters! Apparently, it is a serious business.

Wonder if its not worth it anymore. 5 cents doesn't go as far as it once did. One of many reasons we probably need to either raise the deposit or get rid of it.

In my 60k sized town, the redemption center is only open from 9:37am - 10:14am on Tuesdays. No other store in town (including Hy Vee) takes them anymore. Complete pain in the ass so we’ve given up & just recycle.

I'll add another complaint. We don't tailgate and have always walked from the hotel that my parents stay at. However, my Dad has Parkinson's and the walk on top of the game (especially when it is hot) is a lot for him. I would really like to get him to as many games as he can while he is healthy enough to go. So we are finally using our parking pass in the B lots. I wasn't the one driving in the lots prior to the Iowa game, but when they drove in there (2.5 hours prior to the game), there were a lot of really jackass Iowa State fans taking up extra spots and when they had to move so they could park were making snide comments about how they should have arrived earlier.

I expect it won't be nearly that bad the rest of the year, but just a reminder---you are only entitled to one spot. And you have no idea why a person might be coming in a later than you is doing that.

Had that happen a few years ago. told us to get there earlier. they were just rude and state fans to boot

Yep. And on one hand I understand it a bit. There's a reason why my parents walked to the games for 15 years---they wanted to avoid that mess. But I donate a lot of money (for me) to get that parking pass and we now have what I consider a very legit reason to use it. And I won't ***** at the people taking up 2 or more spots unless they refuse to move when I need a parking space.

I think it is partly because it has gotten so much harder to return them. Especially in large quantities. Fewer and fewer Redemption Centers, and places like Walmart you have to put them in 1 by 1.

I wish they would just do away with it. We dont even save them anymore, so basically every pop or beer costs us a nickel more,

I think it would be better to just recycle them with regular recycling for everyone and save the $1.20 per case.

Yeah, i'd personally rather get rid of it too (All my cans just go into my curbside recycling), but I think one way or another it needs to change.

I can say I got mad, that they kept sending cars down our row, because our row was at least 95% full if not totally full. And we could see a huge open area further in the lot, yet they kept sending them through our row first.

I actually went and said something to the guy sending people in our row. He said he would walk through and check if it was full, and if so he would not send more down there. I dont think any more cars came down our row after that, so he must have seen it was full.

It wasnt so much that people were coming late, it was that our row was obviously full, with several other rows almost empty, and they continued to direct people to come down our row then they would end up going through and down to further rows, because there were no spots in the row we were in.

Were they taking them to Michigan?

I agree. I have said the should build a parking ramp, south of the Alumni center or similar. So those not tailgating or visiting another tailgate, get a close spot, but dont take up premium tailgate space.

I get annoyed when people that are not tailgating or are going to another tailgate take up obvious tailgate spots. You know ones with grass or extra space to tailgate etc. when the other side of the row is just standard parking spot.

Every game I see someone pull into a spot that has obvious tailgate area, and walk away, not tailgating etc. When they could just as easy park facing the other way across the lane, in a standard spot.

But if they did have said different lots, they would probably charge us all a huge premium to get the tailgate spots.
