Calling BS on the bolded. Well, partial BS at least. We were pretty equal out there honestly, but the final drive was the difference. NDSU was better conditioned (their guys were going out with cramping issues) and better disciplined. As a Bison fan I knew that once we converted our first 3rd down in that 8 minute drive that we were going to score and there wasn't a damn thing KSU could do to stop it. Bill Snyder himself said we outplayed them and they were out coached.
As for the bad team beating a horrible team, IDK what to say to that without sounding like a really arrogant jerk. Again, not my intention. What I saw was (after the 1st quarter adjustments) NDSU playing NDSU football.... with a few more passes than normal and a few things to improve on with the defense... but hey, we did lose 24 players from last year so I expected that. In all honesty I think they played 80 to 90% as well as I've seen them play in each of the past 3 championship runs (yes, I know it's D1 FCS.... but it's the division we play in so it's the highest accomplishment we can achieve.... including beating FBS opponents).
An NDSU team playing 80% as well as last year has us outscoring our opponents (on average) 31 to 14 (took 20% away from our offensive scoring and added 20% for our opponents scoring).
Now I get it, if we were an FBS Big 12 team you can throw all of that out the window on a week-to-week basis. Beating one FBS team a year is much harder than beating them every week. Not arguing that at all. But to call them a "bad team" comes off as a bit snobbish and delusional. I also sound snobbish when I say that I expect NDSU to be ABLE to beat any team on our schedule. Not that they will beat them all.... just that they will be able to play with everyone that is currently scheduled. I expect us to be prepared for Iowa when we play them as well (2016 I believe?)
