We'll pay 1/2 your new coaches salary for the duration of his contract and even buy tickets for underpriveleged children to go watch your team play to boost that attendance. In return we would get a coach that could put our team back to respectability and have something for our 13,000 home fans to be proud of again. Deal?

The pathetic attendance and support brings up a good question. How is Drew able to recruit so well to a school and fanbase that doesnt give a crap about basketball? It's getting so frustrating watching teams like this get good out of nowhere and then there is ISU who has incredible fan loyalty and we can't even sniff the same recruits.
I know the answer is because of the talent in Texas but still, it'd be nice to get some of those guys out of there.

The key fact of the first post is that they are ranked 20th, we are not, It doesnt matter how many people they have there, the 500 people saw their top 20 ranked team kick our ***
you're also twice as big. and have a recent history of some better than average teams. and honestly, what else is there to do in Iowa. :wink:
driving hour+ both ways in driving rain on I35 isn't that appealing to many people.
and in texas, even at baylor, football is going to be king.

as joking as this might sound, on a wednesday night, for students and locals - church.
we don't have the best fans, I doubt anyone will argue otherwise. They will show up to big games though, which was not tonight.
and not many alumni hang around waco.
Within a year after that, on the way home from South Padre Island in college, we thought it would be interesting to visit that site, talk about creepy...Not sure why we thought that was a good idea...
Crowd was pretty bad tonight but for God's sake baylrballa, please do not blame it on church! I realize that a decent percentage of my school is pretty lame, but I don't think church could account for much of the missing crowd tonight. Wednesday night, bad weather for out of town fans (which is almost all our alums), the fact that we're playing ISU, all account for the poor crowd-- that being said, me and my buddies thought the student turn out was especially bad and it was not an acceptable crowd at all.
It was also very quiet, but it is hard to get pumped up against ISU this year unless we thought the team really needed the boost. After traveling to the BU/UT game last weekend, I was shocked at how little energy their fans had and how quiet it was. In games against legit opponents, our crowds absolutely blew what I saw at UT out of the water.

I never considered hilton bad. The title of this thread is way off. We get 13-14k fans for EVERY GAME, how is that bad!!!???!!!???
Quite a few Cyclone fans there. My best friend is an ISU grad and lives in Waco. He went and said there were about 1000 there. There are a lot of Cyclones in the DFW area. Which is 2 hours north. No there is nothing in Waco. In fact nothing to even make you feel your in a college town. Reminds me of like Simpson or something.
i have been to Waco, and my honest analysis is the east side of the interstate that heads south is the campus which is very nice looking, pretty much what you would expect of a private school, the west side is low income rundown **** hole where i honest to god saw a man sitting on the top of a wood fence post.....

Waco is just lucky enough to be somewhat close to Dallas and Austin unlike us which is close to Des Moines and ....... Iowa City...... ugh....
