Xbox Game Pass Question

Game Pass has saved me a ton of money, but not in the way I expected. There have been a ton of games that I looked forward to, and then found out they either sucked, or were not for me. I think I've found 3 or 4 games that I really liked, and found 20 or more that I'm glad I didn't spend money on.
This. It saves me a lot as well. The only game I've purchased this year is Elden Ring. Everything else has been Gamepass. So many Day one release games. And the yearly sports games make it to gamepass pretty regularly as well, so I don't need to spend on those, just be patient.

Isn't the newest Xbox totally cloud-based?

But as the owner don't you still have to download the games? And certain other benefits, like EA Play, only apply to the owner. There are some dumb restrictions.
The home xbox gets linked to a second xbox. Because I am the primary account on both, my brother-in-law has access to any game I buy. Family sharing is super cool that way in that only one of you needs to buy the game. It's a bit tricky to get it set up, but super awesome when it does.

I don't have a situation like yours with devices in multiple homes. Hell, I have a hard enough time managing it for two kids.

My point was, even though family members have access to games, there are things they can't do and benefits of Game Pass they can't enjoy. My son can't download his own game, for example...I have to do it and then he gets access. It's just a bit of a PITA, but not the end of the world.

Hmmmmm....I think there is a way to actually avoid this situation. Is it all on one xbox by chance? I am by no means an expert, but I think if it's one xbox you have to make it the home xbox. Then, all who are on that xbox should have the same benefits. It's been a long time since I have done it, but youtube has some "how tos" on family sharing and game pass.

Yes, in my house it's all on one Xbox, which I'm fairly sure is the "home" Xbox. (Wouldn't it have to be by default? Either way I'm pretty sure I would have chosen that.)

Anyway, my kids can *play* Game Pass games, once I download them. As best I can tell I still have to download them myself, they can't do that. And I researched the EA Play thing awhile back and that's only to the Game Pass owner, not everyone on the device. (I can't even remember what EA Play does, probably just some added benefits to games. The point was that it's a benefit of Game Pass that only I, the person who rarely games, gets to use in my house.)
