This letter never gets sent if we don't lose to FAMU, this is damage control, nothing positive about the AD's hand being forced in to putting this email out. There is a reason it's mostly about the football program, he knows bball is in a rough spot.

If it is, calling for Prohm's head after that loss is not irrational.

Agree. Beat FAMU, it’s not sent. But they did and frankly glad he sent as a means to rally and show perspective. I appreciate him as a leader, JP understands the pulse of this fanbase.

Meh- the updates were nice. If the IHSAA writes the first part of the letter- they get crushed. JP writes it and it is perfect? I did not think our fans were that bad the past few days because most of our fans aren't reflected on message boards anyway.

Just cash the checks Jamie- the people writing them can act how they choose
You don't know many boosters, do you?

However, we need to remember there is a difference between being irrational and being disappointed. Irrational thoughts, when acted upon, actually make us look like the fan bases we often times make fun of when they experience disappointments. Let us be the fan base that other schools aspire to model.

When I read the part in italics, and with Sam Wyche's passing this week, I couldn't help but think of that as Pollard's way of saying, "YOU DON'T LIVE IN IOWA CITY, YOU LIVE IN AMES!"

So basically keep buying tickets, please.

I think people are still excited and interested in football.

The next month may be pivotal for basketball.
Agreed.

By August we'll all be drinking the football Kool-Aid and deservedly so.

The rest of this season will be Prohm earning his job back. JP is one of the best (if not the best) ADs in the nation. Partly because he's learned a lot of valuable lessons during his tenure. I just don't see him accepting a bball program that loses to 1-9 FAMU in a morgue that was formerly Hilton Colosseum.

I think this is Pollard telling people not to be ********. The **** written on this site by fans is most likely equaled to the **** that fans are sending to Pollard, Prohm, Campbell, and the players.

If you want Prohm to be fired at the end of the year, stop going to games and stop donating. But don't act like an *******. The louder and uglier you are about it makes it pretty easy to ignore you because no one in any power will take you seriously. Don't assume that you know more than the the actual professionals know.

I think the vitriol aimed at our coaches has increased a lot over the last 2 years. And Pollard has called it out several times.

There is a large segment of this fanbase that WANTS the programs to fail. They want to be proven 'right' and love being miserable and making others miserable.

Let this be known to all of you guys who thinks Pollard doesn't understand the importance of winning. He does.

Trust me, Pollard knows how bad losing to FAMU is.
He probably also understands that it is not a good deal to be on ESPN right before the national championship semi-finals and have the announcers comment how ISU is underperforming on the "Big stage"...

You might be shocked :) . That said, who is JP to tell them how to act? He got kicked out of a HS game once, right?

Just leave it alone and win some games.

And I'm guessing he'd say that was not the right way to act.

There are a lot of ****** Iowa State fans that think they are entitled to success. There are a lot of ****** Iowa State fans that want Iowa State to fail so they can be proven right. Those fans deserve to be called out.

The game on Tuesday ruined my night. I was pissed. I'm worried that we are going to have to go through yet another coaching change at some point in the future, which would be very unfortunate because that is no way to build a program. But reading this board made all of it so much worse.

Or this is a leader that is shedding light on all the positives and the bright future...

I'm sorry but this is absurd. I think this site is as fanatical as you will see, and even on here I don't think the response has been "ugly". I haven't seen anything frankly that I'd consider ******* behavior. To my eye, it's been a very well reasoned discussion with valid points on both sides of the equation. There are arguments for and against whether Steve is doing a good job.

But get out of here with this nonsense like this whole thing has gotten "ugly".

The guy makes over 2 million dollars a year, I don't think he's beyond a little criticism. But I haven't seen anywhere that it has become nasty or personal.

It's not mostly about the football team. As I read it, there are two sentences specifically about football and one sentence specifically about men's basketball.
