and whats best for our program in Basketball is getting rid of an under achieving coach who just had probably the most embarrassing loss for a D1 program.... Football we are better off then we have ever been.

This letter feels very McDermott/Rhoads. Pollard knows Steve is done he is just trying to buy donations and time.

Just when you think it can't get any dumber...it does!!

Like I said in a previous thread, you can tell we are becoming a better athletic program because the douchbag ratio is going up, Pollard's e-mail agrees.
Interesting concept. Can’t say I disagree.

I too know professional communicators at universities and this is exactly what they do. Every day, all the time. The president, or athletic director, or dean that writes his/her own public communications is rare; most everything is delegated to staff whose job it is to understand institutional priorities and the "voice" that the leadership wants to project. People like Pollard tell communicators what they want out of the message and ultimately review/edit/approve but don't do most of the work. (And it's possible Pollard actually did write this himself. I just think it's unlikely.)

So relax. It isn't some personal insult to Pollard to say he probably didn't write this himself, because it's still "him" talking. And in fact, it would be high praise to his staff that it was so well-written that people think Pollard did it himself.

That tone is not crafted by a professional other than JP. Sure someone else reviewed and edited, but to think that was ghost-written is just wrong imho.

So I have zero problem with Campbell. I think he is fantastic and that he’s doing great. But if any of that letter is related to basketball then I say respectfully **** you JP don’t tell us how to feel. There isn’t anything irrational with what is going on with basketball.

This feels like when a little kid tries to get you to notice a small mistake while hiding the fact that he also left the fence open and the dog escaped.

The Big 12 tournament winner gets an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. Until that isn't the case, it is an important tournament.

And people wonder why Pollard had to write this letter...
That's fair, but at what point have we won the tournament when we weren't already considered a lock for the NCAA? There are always a few lower conference teams that make it due to winning their conference tournament. Us as a 5 seed is the lowest seed to win the big 12 tournament. And we were a 6 seed in the dance.

Fan's discontent with losing to FAMU was well justified and needed to be heard whether Jamie wanted to hear it or not. That loss was absolutely atrocious and inexcusable...however...
...that game is over. It can't be changed as much as we'd like to change it. Players (especially this bunch) need our full support. Even when-especially when- things go wrong. I, for one, am going into the new year with a new attitude and will be less critical of the Cyclones.

Or, you know, that all coincided with increases in TV money.
Sure. But you can't deny that avoiding paying coaches millions of dollars years after they aren't coaching here any longer isn't a big benefit at a school like ISU. We are still, relatively speaking, a small budget school compared to most of our competition.
