WTF is going on?

You are going to have a real big problem by year end if Maning cant figure this out. Your loyalty to Manning might mean you lose Heacock at some point.

Heacock isnt any spring chicken, and lots of folks would be willing to pay him a ton to coach that defense in the SEC or Big 10. the man is only human too, he has to be pissed about this crap.

We got a QB problem as well, nothing against hunter but nobody here is going to make him any better, this is as good as he will ever be at Iowa State.

we got guys on the o line that are regressing now, and this has happened a lot now.

I think you have to flush a lot of this offensive staff and make sure you got Heacock grooming someone, the well is going to be so poisoned by year end offensively, and there wont be any way back.

I really really worry about Heacock….how long till an SEC team says, here is 2M bucks, do your thing. he has been shutting down elite offenses for years now, and getting no help. His mind has to wander a bit.

The defesive performance tonight and last week was on part with WV when they came in ranked number 6. Like they really had it going at points. And we flushed it down the toiler.

If CMC is truly an elite coach it is time for him step up and prove it. Make any adjustments necessary to get the program back on track. Start showing improvements week after week until the team becomes the best version of themselves that they can be. To quote the football poster from a couple of years ago, “Prove It”

Felt like X was just mentally worn down (and probably physically too) by having to carry this offense by himself. Had over 100 yards, nearly double digit catches, but Kstate was throwing everything they had at him.

Also, I don't know but why is Jared Rus on the field every play, as harsh as that sounds. Rus to me doesn't add much value in the run block scheme b/c hes somewhat slow, and he sure as heck doesn't in the pass game either. Tyler Moore would be better to me b/c he is half a foot taller and likely much faster.

I routinely have said for a while "Why is Rus in???"

It's just trying to recreate the 3 borderline-NFL TE thing. Rus isn't close to an every down player at this level, and THAT IS OKAY. He's a fine player who does some things really, really well.

At this point, let Gaines play more, go 4 wide, whatever. Just do something different because the "plan" (generous to call it that) is not working. Maybe trying to run the offense like we're Iowa in 2008 doesn't work in the B12 in 2022. You NEED to generate explosive plays to win nowadays. If Manning can't do it, fire him and move on. Give Scheelhaase a shot. I don't know and/or don't care. Heacock has been more than carrying his weight for a long time.

The Oline is fine. It's just hard to run the ball when there's zero threat of a down field throw. So the defense can tee off on stopping the run.

Defense has played lights out only to watch us play with no balls on offense. Have one if the best damn receivers in the conference and we do target him a lot but its short patterns. Dean and Rus look like capable targets but we seem to have abandoned throwing to the TE now.

I think it’s gonna get ugly real fast—next week in Austin. Maybe Texas isn’t that great, but I think that’s the sort of game that can break the defense. I’m expecting something along the lines of 27-6
 
I truly believe the coaches have lost the offense. First sign for me was our QB in a shouting match with CMC last week. This week, how many drops did 'X" have? Yes, he is the best receiver and should be targeted, but I thought I counted at least 4 drops by him alone. One he was double covered in the middle and there were 2 open receivers to the right, but the throw went to "X" and he dropped it while taking a hit. Hit after hit adds up.
After the OL let rushers scoot by and get a sack, the camera focused on two of the OL. They were chatting like nothing happened while starting to line up. They have no fear of being replaced and don't seem to have pride or focus to do the job. It is sad.
The coaches have lost the offense. Will they have a coming to Jesus moment or will the season be over. We will know soon.

The offense is going to have to come up with at least 30 points if we are going to hang with Texas, or pretty much our entire scoring against Power 5 competition this season.

Unfortunately X dropped two passes that determined the past two games…

The same can be said of our defensive players. Why wouldn't they leave for a better offer? This can't be fun for them.

Down year. You usually don't see it with a really good defense though.

Brock and Norton being hurt and out really hurts the offense.
