Wrestling coverage this week

I wondered why Rob hadn't written for CF lately his articles were really good.

The money isn't there to cover and support sports like wrestling, auto racing, even women's basketball. Hell, when I was cutting my teeth, the Ames Tribune sent beat reporters to every road game. They had a guy dedicated to the wrestling beat.

It's never going to be that way again. It doesn't matter how many subs get added, the corporate model will just reallocate resources elsewhere.

It sucks, but I guess my message is to try to appreciate what JC is doing here and a sponsor like Fareway for providing great coverage for a niche sport.

Again, do not blame the local folks in Des Moines. This goes waaaaaay over their heads.

Well, I guess it's just like CW to add some common sense & background to the discussion. I've spend many times more on CF, Rokfin & Flo this year than on the Register, so I get the concept of specialized sites.

I know I hijacked this thread a bit so sorry about that JC. We're looking forward to having you in Tulsa next weekend.

I guess it comes down to the old fashioned jealousy, which I say I don't have. I want Cody in Tulsa because that's where the story is. We're trying to win the B12s & UNI is in the hunt too. We may not have as good a shot as we thought we did before our injuries at 25 & 41 but we have a better chance than Iowa beating Cael this week. David is going for B12 crown #4 if my count is correct too. Tulsa is where the wrestling story of the week is going to be dammit.

I'm actually the opposite. If there is a meet on, I'm watching it. If I'm not, I'm going to watch it later on replay and I don't want it spoiled by a tweet from someone I follow (If I hadn't deleted Twitter, that is, LOL). You have an absolute AMAZING gift for photography and I'd much rather see those pics. Thanks for all your hard work!

RE: the Register dude, I assume he's going to the B1G's right? Let's just admit that it's a much bigger event than the B12's and be done with it. Not a slight to ISU or UNI, it's just more important from a national scene and IA has a top team like it or not.

A few things. I’ve been a little MIA just with adjusting to my new day job and such. But, it’s the fun part of the season so I’m fully focused on wrestling. My new boss was super chill when I interviewed and made it clear the dates for Big12/NCAA were non-negotiable.

As always, whatever you guys need let me know! I leave for Tulsa Friday so I’ll have live, on-site coverage. I’m gonna do my best to bring you unique and behind the scenes coverage of ISU.

No backpacks allowed in BOK. Usually. I assume they serve beer in there during sessions. Those are the important details that go with going to Nationals! Need to find a spot to get a couple drinks, good burger and fries in between sessions that is relatively close. I am afraid that may not be real easy in Tulsa.

There is a restaurant (I can’t remember the name) right across the street that has all of this! I never went cause it was usually too busy for me since I have to work so much between sessions but it seemed like the hot spot last year!

No problem hijacking! These boards are all to discuss everything and anything. For now, you’re all stuck with me in Tulsa for a second year in a row! ;) I’ll bust my ass for you guys so you won’t even be worried about what other reporters are up to! I hope haha

We all appreciate you and what you bring for coverage. If anyone doesn’t, we are wrestling fans. Just let us know who’s causing you problems and we’ll get ‘em straightened out for you. ;)
