Worst Iowa State Team Ever?

I sat though both Chizik years and I think both of those teams are just as good if not better than the current one.

You do realize that Baylor is a really young team as well this year don't you?

What are you smoking? Look at their depth chart....

Baylor
Offense - JR, JR, SR, SO, SR, SR, SO, SR, SO, JR, JR, - 4 Sr's 4 JR's ZERO Freshmen or Red Shirt Freshmen
Defense - SR, SO, SO, SR, SR, JR, SR, SR, SR, SO, SR - 7 of 11 Seniors
Special Teams - SR, JR, SR, JR, SR, SR - ZERO underlassmen

Now look at ours....

Offense - JR, JR, FR, JR, SO, SO, FR, (RB is by committee but Nealy and Wimberly SO or JR), FR, SR, SO. - 1 SR - 2.5 JR's - 3 Freshmen or RS Freshmen
Defense - SR, JR, JR, JR, JR, SR, JR, FR, SR, SR, SR - 5 of 11 Seniors
Special Teams - SR, JR, SR, FR, SR, SO

There is really no comparison between the two, especially on offense where we've struggled the most.

You're living in fantasy land. We might be a little bit more talented than 1-2 of those teams in the 90's but it's debatable.

The entire B12 is fairly young. I don't see a lot of young talent to get excited about frankly. Our OL will probably be a little better in the next 2 years, but we've got holes all over the place besides just that.

No, it's not fantasy land. You guys have all written this team off for eternity or at least the next few years. You are dead wrong to think the TALENT level on this team is anywhere near those early 90's teams. Wait til these young guys are JR's and SR's. If we still win one or two games, I'll agree with you.

Huh, I was thinking Baylor only had like 1 senior starter.

What if we only win 5 when these guys are upperclassmen? Don't you feel like that would be a waste?

The did you know question said that Bundrage was the only offensive player to start all now 10 games. That's crazy

I agree with you. The talent on this team is far better than what we had on the 2 bowl teams I was part of. Then you add in the talent that is coming in with next years recruits and it isn't even close.

As much as I do not want to I really am starting to question CPR. There have been numerous coaching gaffes throughout the season with time management and proper guys being on the field. Just seems like a lot of stuff that should be common. Many of you will defend the decisions but if it were an opposing coach, say iowa, there would be thread destroying Iowa for the same errors.

Oh and he promoted his friend to OC. The entire offensive staff and maybe the S&C staff should be gone too. Our team getting pushed around all the time by everyone (including Tulsa and UNI) is really getting disgusting.

I graduated in 86, so I endured the great drought of the 90's. We are about as bad as anything in that era. Walden had a functional offense and less talent to work with - also we had scholarship penalties back then.

Functional offense huh...

Walden's 5th season - Here are our points for... 42 (Eastern Ill), 10, 6, 28 (Rice), 8, 0, 6, 23, 7, 13, 14 - 14.27 avg
CPR's 5th season with a FAR more difficult schedule than Walden had - 20, 21, 38, 30, 35, 7, 27, 7, 17, 10 (2 games left where likely score above our avg) - 21.2 avg

I'm not saying we are an offensive machine at all. In fact we aren't very good on offense. But Walden's 5th year team was a full touchdown worse against lesser competition so saying he had a functional offense is just flat out wrong if you are comparing it to what we have now.

I tend to agree....the more crucial issue is who will be developing/coaching these kids.

LOL, now we're pulling out statistics from the 80's and 90's to justify why we should accept a 1-2 win season.

First, how do you know mess and Rhoads were buddies before? Seriously, show a link of this, please.

Second, if you really really don't want to question Rhoads, why don't you wait until the off-season and see if any changes are made?

I mean, I would think that if it is that tough to question the coach, you would be willing to see if he makes changes, and what they all entail before going ahead and questioning the coach.

It is amazing that so many people already know the future of this program is sunk with Paul Rhoads as the head coach. I mean I guess I understand, he hasn't really ever accomplished anything out won any big games.

Sorry, carry on

What about every other team in the Big 12?

Is there one team in the Big 12 less talented than us? I would say K-State/KU might be on par...but K-State actually has a coach.

Who is accepting it? Please show me anyone who is gleefully laughing and skipping through a field of clover because we're 1-9. Please show me...

Just because not all of us think Paul Rhodes sucks and needs to be fired, and are willing to wait to see what changes are made in the off-season, doesn't mean we are excusing this debacle of a season.

KU and K-State are probably on par, and that's the way it will probably be. Coaching staff needs to simply coach up guys to the point that they can compete with better talent.

Why do you think Paul Rhoads is capable of winning 7+ games on a consistent basis? What has he done to prove he is a good coach this season? One great upset and one fluke upset shouldn't give a coach this long of a leash. We very rarely demolish lesser competition and we don't compete with the good teams. He has not shown me he can recruit exceptional talent. Our team is not disciplined and our coaching staff is usually out-schemed.

When he went to the Insight Bowl with Chizik/Mac's players I thought he could be a great coach once he got his own recruits. That has not been the case.
