Worst Defeat Ever?

Our A.D. took a tremendous gamble by showing Coach Dan the door. The football program suffered a serious setback all because the A.D. was not confident Coach Dan could take ISU to the next level. This is not about the football coaches, the question is whether or not the A.D. should be held accountable for a gamble which is looking increasingly disastrous. The A.D. made a big picture move to take the football program to the next level and the big picture is not looking good. The problem is not the coaches--the problem is an A.D. who blew up a fragile football program only to leave the fans now wishing the program could be back to where it was when the A.D. declared "not good enough".

A few that were close to this bad, not strictly by scoring margin, but "terrible-ness," off the top of my head, no rankings.
Nebraska 77-14, 1997 (obvious; but at least NU went 13-0. Baylor will not go 13-0)
Oklahoma 49-3, 2002 (because of top-10 ranking)
Iowa 57-3, 1985.
Utah 68-27, 2010.
Kansas State 58-7, 2002.
Nebraska 73-14, 1995 (see NU 1997)

Wow...........worst loss in ISU history. Next closest was before even I was born.

Hard to believe that this is the team ISU gets in Rhoad's 5th year. Makes one wonder.

I hereby deem this the winner of the Overreaction of the Night Award!

Dumb. Dan was running the program into the dirt.

Sorry, very sorry. This was the worst. Their third string was scoring.

I remember Osbourne at the end of a first half only rushing his quarterback Scott Frost or whatever his name was up the middle for like the last 5 plays straight begging our defense to stop him before half....and we could not. It was like 50 something at half. 1996 or so. The worst part was Osborne saying as much in the press conference. He was begging our guys to stop his so it wouldn't be such an embarassment....patronizing but true too.

Probably so, but they could have scored 120+ that day if they wanted to.

I was at the game and Lincoln and the Husker fans were apologetic. This feels worse because it's supposed to be a new era of Cyclone football where we are legitimate and have great fan support. We suck and casts a LONG shadow over this regime.

The only question is can this regime recover. It felt like ALL of our credibility just swirled down the toilet tonight.

The worst I have seen in my 2 decades of Iowa State football and in those 2 decades there was some really bad football. How to we come back from this? I know we are young on both sides of the ball, but come on. Our offense is nonexistent and our defense can't tackle worth a ****. Do we beat anybody this year?

Worst team since 2003, maybe with better tackling. A remotely decent O-line keeps the ball moving tonight, and less points for Baylor.

Whoa. Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

These boards are interesting after loses like these. You'd assume we were on track for the conference championship or had a pedigreed program by the reaction around here.
