Workout Class Advice

Don't do it. She's going to start going to these classes and have all these dudes tell her great job, you're an awesome gal, way to kick butt on those burpes today and then she's going to come home and see you spread out watching an ISU game with your hand down your pants drinking a beer.

Pretty soon she's going to start going out for drinks with her class and within 18 months she'll have left you for one of the instructors that tells her she can do anything, she deserves better and she needs to do what makes her feel good. Then some dude with a neck tattoo will be plowing your fields, Farmin (if you know what I mean).

90% of all my divorce clients started from a CrossFit esque class. True story.

OK, I was laughing at this until the last sentence. Seriously?

Sounds like recipe for divorce to me. Why wasn't she watching the ISU game, too? Leave her.

My wife is a bit of a workout addict. She mainly runs and exercises in our workout room in the basement. However she has stated that she is getting bored with it and wants to try some new things. She has done some classes in the past where it was a couple days a week but isn't sure that will work for her with our schedules currently.

Does anyone know of any places in the Ankeny/Ames area that you can buy a 10 class gift card and she can drop into classes as her schedule allows but not have to join or enroll full time.

She is not a flowers type of girl for Valentines day and she loves to workout as her break away from the kids. Thought this would be a nice vday gift for her.

And before it gets said I'm not worried one bit about this making her think I think she's fat. I've given her fitness gifts in the past and she loves them.

Best advice, tell her to keep doing those squats and lunges. Do your squats ladies! :twitcy:

Not literally, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't see some correlation in those types of classes and affairs. Anytime there's underlying trouble in a relationship and one partner is spending an increasing amount of time with others, they start confiding in them, having drinks/spending time outside of class with them and generally replacing their partner with the new person. Add to this the fact that one partner often loses a bunch of weight and is getting increased attention from the opposite sex while partner 2 is doing an increasing amount of child care/work around the house while partner 1 is gone. You can guess what often happens next. I'm sure this has just replaced the personal trainer, the gardner, the tennis instructor or whatever other overused cliche you want to insert, but if these people provide something that is lacking at home - confidence, escape from kids, fun, whatever - the ingredients are there.

This is obviously a small portion of the group workout population and there is almost always trouble already at home, but I am dead serious when I say it's a noticeable trend.
