So what did Weather Underground know last night that local experts didn't pick up on??

Based on how much CF$ I've given you lately, I'd say you know your odds pretty well.
I wish they were giving me the $$$ I'm running pretty low on CY Bucks myself
I should listen to myself more often.
Dark Sky started shifting it's model around 9-10pm. It went from 5-8in down to 3 around 10pm.
I'm in north Ankeny. I've seen reports of about 3" here and that seems about right, though it just started up again about a half hour ago.
It was definitely more than 3" of snow's worth of work though, having to work around all the existing snow and trying to clear a little extra space in case we get another big storm soon.

Good job by our meteorologists on nailing the timing. Totals were a little off but that’s extremely hard to predict when we’re talking a difference of .2” of moisture.
Can someone post the link to the statewide snow totals on the IEM website? I can't seem to find it after I lost the link
About 3" on the south side of Ankeny -- at least in my driveway this AM. 4-5" in places with drifting.
I watched the weather all day on the hour to hour forecast on NOAA. Finally pulled the trigger and decided to come to the game from 90 miles away. I knew the snow might be just getting going when coming back and didn't mind the thought of that.......until we lost.....and then drove back in worse conditions than anticipated....a normal 85 minute trip took 150 minutes.....depressing thinking about the loss all the way back!
