Winning best conf tournament

Why doesn't this mean more? I think a 3 seed is likely a better path for us so I'm fine with that but why would a team who finished 2nd during the regular season by 1 game in the best conf in basketball then not only wins the tournament but does it by beating the 3 and 1 seed on consecutive nights after beating Texas who is likely another tournament team the night before.

It makes little sense to me that ISU isn't deserving of the highest Big XII seed, especially after beating KU 2 of 3. ISU finished the season better than pretty much anyone not named Kentucky.

Again, easiest path is preferred regardless of seeding but lower than 2 seems to be not giving ISU credit for a pretty big accomplishment. We were a protected 4 before playing TX.

Fair argument but we beat them 2 of 3 which carries more weight with 2 teams who are in the same neighborhood in overall record and RPI. My opinion anyway.

We did great and this team can win it all... But I'm okay with KU getting a 2 seed and us a 3. Maybe if we had the same ref treatment as KU in Big 12 play we would be a one or two seed...

So it appears from the Big 12 perspective that the tourney champ goes to the NCAA's no matter what. So in a very down year for the Big 12 (say no teams ranked at all) then the tourney champ would go and the regular season champ would not.

The only conference that doesn't send its tourney champ to the NCAAs as the auto qualifier is the Ivy League, which doesn't have a conference tournament. I think it's an NCAA rule - if you have a conference tournament, its champion is the auto qualifier.

How much effect can it have at this point? We were already a solid three. Maybe it could get us to a 2, but the 2/3 seeds are online to face one another anyway. It's not a major difference.

The difference is it looks better and, in theory, a slightly easier path to the Sweet 16 matchup.

Don't lose to teams like South Carolina or Tech and the argument for ISU deserving the 2 seed is way stronger. That Tech loss especially was killer. Kansas as a 2 seed is right where they should be.

Body of work. Just because we beat KU 2 out of 3 times, doesn't mean we should jump them. Should Baylor jump us since they swept us?
