Will the BIG10 Reverse Their Decision?

The Big 10 clown show is the gift that keeps on giving. Who ever would have thought the Big 10, whose products entail all the excitement of a documentary, would have suddenly shifted genres to an all-out comedy. Who would have thought? Sure is more entertaining than anything I've seen them produce in years.

I have a hard time believing the Dan Patrick Show would be the one to break this news. Coaches and AD’s can keep pushing, but it’s the school presidents who make the decision.

Its like during realignment. All these guys have their sources in the ADs, but they are usually somewhere in the coaching\staff ranks in the AD. They don't have many sources in the president's office. So inaccurate stuff hits the rumor mill and sometimes we find out its baseless once the presidents actually come out and say something.

I would think at this point that the school presidents are waiting to see how the first big weekend of college football goes. They’re probably waiting for the P3 conferences to play their first games before they move forward with their schools.

It seems like if they were going to do that, they'd need to wait a couple weeks after that to see what that did to spread before they could make any kind of announcement. And then they'd need some number of weeks to spin up practices and whatnot.

That'd put you at like november at the earliest if you wanted to do that strategy.

I know that I've fallen for these "leaks", but holy cow there have been a ton of those that have mentioned coming back early, just to be shot down as false shortly after.

Their conference and how they've handled this has been a complete and utter s*** show.. And I love it

He is the one that broke the story of them canceling the season - seams to have a very well placed source on this topic. Has been on the leading edge of this the last few weeks.

A bunch of outlets broke it at the same time.

Oh, I don’t know, because he died of ******* covid.

there is no evidence that doctors are committing fraud, so if you’re going to make that claim, you had better either put up actual evidence or shut up.

Let’s be real - the Big Ten is not starting in early October - there are some programs where the players aren’t even on campus.

I have no doubt that all the smoke is the coaches and ADs trying to exert pressure to move things forward, but the Presidents and Chancellors are the ones with the power - and ultimately the liability.

I don’t think the “egg on their face” is their real concern, it’s the fact that they delayed due to liability concerns and nothing has drastically changed that would save them if things went sour. They could probably try going in late November if other conferences have success, but my guess is things will be getting worse in the Big Ten states around that time period.

A portion of Big Ten coaches are desperate and it shows. They are going to find out just how important all their trophy games are...

That, and seeing people within their athletic departments being laid off left and their budgets doing down the drain.

I think the biggest issue with how the Big Ten did all this is the Presidents and Chancelors didn’t seem to inform their ADs and coaches what they thought or voted on. That’s made it so everybody is trying to stab each other in the back rather than having any sort of unified front (which we’re all enjoying).

Now that we know the vote was something like 11-3, the whole lot look stupid for not sorting things out internally before running to the press with all these rogue statements and plans. While Warren is taking all the heat, the coaches and ADs have nobody to complain to or about but their own Presidents and Chancellors.

I see no way the league plays before Thanksgiving at the absolute earliest, and I think that will be relying on a miracle of things not to turn nasty by then.

That and the whole "There was no vote, but everybody was on the same page" to "Well, there was a vote and it was unanimous" , back to "There wasn't a vote", to "There was a vote and it was 11-3", and so on and so forth.
