Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

Do players need to pay out of pocket to go workout with teams or is it part of the new feedback process?

It's gotta be like 99% he's coming back.

All this other stuff we're hearing about is good for him. It's paving the path to the NBA for him once he proves that he can dominate on a frequent basis at the collegiate level. He still has a lot to prove, and I think he will this coming season at ISU.

I do not think it is so much "dominate" but show the specific skills that he will need while in the NBA as a 6'2" point guard. He needs to show a great handle, court vision, and ball security, things he frankly struggled with last season. One could make the case he needs to work on being a more polished on-ball defender, too, in guarding other point guards.

If he can prove adequate/developing at those things, plus the fact he is a better shooter than anticipated, all that plus his rounded offensive game will make him sought after. He is long enough and athletic enough to be a good defender, too.

I don't watch much NBA but after watching a few of the playoff games I can't really call that basketball. The number 1 thing you have to have is strength because every drive is more like rugby. Every time they slow it down they hold the ball in an arm and it looks very much like a rugby scrum. He will need to get stronger to play in the NBA.

This may sound harsh but please watch more couple of NBA playoff games before giving an opinion that Wigginton needs to get stronger to deal with "rugby scrums".
The NBA is more of skill game now more than ever that prioritizes shooting, ball handing, pace of play and spreading the floor. Lindell is as strong if not stronger than most of the guards that will be entering the Draft. LW will likely need to improve his handle, extend his range and prove he can play the point to become a first round pick IMO.

Perhaps you need to watch more NBA games if that's all you can see. The skill level of players at every position has increased to the point that almost all of them need to be able to dribble, pass, shoot, etc. Even the centers are now hitting 3-pt shots. The athleticism has also increased from years past. A number of players on each team routinely make athletic moves that only a few in past years were able to make.

Wigginton has the athleticism/strength for the NBA. He just needs to show he can hit 3-pointers, handle the ball, and make good decisions passing the ball. Isiah Thomas is only 5'9" but is effective because of his other skills.

Just because it has improved in these regards does not mean that it is still not a rough-and-tumble style of basketball on the whole, or at least compared to the college game, especially compared to the "basketbrawl" sort of style that dominated the league from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. Guys in the NBA and big and strong and mean. They just are.

Watching Lebron still looks like watching a wildebeest on speed play basketball, even if he has improved the skilled aspects of his game considerably the past few years.

I agree with this. Every time someone takes it to the basket, there is contact. Not saying that's a bad thing, but many, many no-calls in the NBA would be for-sure fouls in college.

Lebron is the exception though not the rule. Tough to draw comparisions on Bron's style to the way that a PG like Wiggington will need to evolve to succeed. Shorter Players can like McCollum, Lillard, Lowery, Paul or Mitchell as path to success show that his height can use skill/athleticism to work in in the NBA.

I agree, but I think the point stands --

The NBA, even if far less physical now than in say the 1990s, is still a much more physical brand of basketball than you typically see in college.

Press Virginia/Thuggyball is not a bad comparison to the median in the NBA.

That is mostly saying how borderline-to-violent the game could get back then, if anything.

This is why skilled players have a trouble playing on Sunday if they lack whatsoever the ideal size and athleticism. This is why Georges is in the D-League. :(

I don't remember him declaring or not, but I really can't remember surly coming here freaking out about it. I think he's staying.

Wade did not. Brown did but wasn't invited to the combine. Barry just checking potential future options.

Wade is dealing with the foot injury. And he's just not an early-NBA dude anyway. The kid may play a decade in the league. But he's in no hurry to leave K-State. Going from St. John, KS to MHK was a huge enough step - not longing for LA or Orlando. Dates a junior WBB player. I'd be shocked if he left her and the team even if healthy.
