Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

I was about 90-10 on Lindell being back at ISU next year but after reading this, I’m 50-50. Sounds like a lot of teams are interested in him which is great for him, but selfishly I want him back at ISU so we can return to the tournament. Don’t think we do if he leaves.

You were never 90-10 and this article doesn't really change anything. I'd expect him to work out for several teams.

For the most part, what LW has this year, basically a shot at a roster will be there for the next three years. Come back, and that opportunity is there at worst, with potential to get guaranteed $. If he's dead set on the NBA (vs playing overseas) then coming back is the play hands down. Quality of life and ability to develop his game is probably better at a P5 school than as a G leaguer, plus he retains the possibility of really cashing in. Take out an insurance policy, come back to school, prove you are a legit PG and cash in.

Any idea on how much such an insurance policy costs/pays if he were to get injured? Obviously depends on the player, but is it like a $1,000 premium for $1,000,000 policy or something?

This article doesn’t change my mind one way or the other. If anything, Randy is just bored looking for some clicks.
Of course teams are interested in him, but he is in the middle-bottom of their interest list. If he was of strong interest, he would have been selected to go to the combine in the first group, not the alternates.

I thought they were about like this but then saw its like $8k per $1M, so pretty steep.

Yeah, since he didn't get invited to the combine (yet), Randy is trying to stir something else up. Of course he is going to garner some interest and work outs, as he is certainly a future NBA player. The lack of a combine invite tells you his chances are marginal at best this year.

I know it's most likely nothing but reading Chris's latest interview with prohm on Wiggs decision I feel like prohms message on the matter has changed the past couple months.

In the Ames tribune 2 part interview they did with him in March he pretty much said he fully expects Lindell will be back and this is just part of the development process. Now in this article it's changed to he will fully support whatever decision (which obviously that would be the case). Just doesn't give me the best feelings comparing the 2 interviews a couple of months apart.

His chances at getting drafted this arent marginal at best they are near zero. He isnt on a single draft board for this year...He wasnt invited to combine. Ofc he has several teams interested in him and want him to work out. They will work him out and then they will send him recommendations and for LW recommendations on what specifically to work on this off season and what growth they want to see this coming year in college.

I’ll say this again..You get one shot at college...you get one shot at a draft. We know for sure LW isnt going 1st round this year and if you arent guaranteed any money leaving this year they you come back and work your butt off getting a lot better at what they recommend and get closer to that 1st rd next year.

I think if Prohm were 50/50 he and the staff would be busy right now lining up grad transfer guard visits. Ofc i want LW to return for another year at ISU...what fan doesnt..but I’d also like to see LW get drafted in 1st round which would be fantastic for LW and for ISU. Well that aint a possibility this year.

It's not just Randy saying it though. Prohm just said the other day that a lot of teams are showing interest in Lindell.

I just hope Lindell gets good info, that's all. I'd hate for him to leave, then not get drafted and get screwed.

I'd think that if you aren't even invited to the combine, then you for sure won't be going in the first round, which means you'd be better off staying in school one more year.

I'd put my feelings on him staying at about 75-25 right now.

LW didnt put his name in the draft for fun...He’s a potential pro no doubt. Since he didnt get the combine invite the next best thing is working out for teams. So he is.

T cook is working out for half a dozen teams. This is all part of the process. As for the 2 different responses by Prohm in 2 diff interviews..they were 2 entirely diff questions. He can feel confident everyone on the team will return and he can also publicly support LW in his aspirations to be in the NBA one day.

So tired of Hines and Peterson this. I hope he stays, but if he goes he goes, and then we won’t have to read about this for the next year. Someone else can take his place

Are pre-draft workouts common for guys who aren't invited to the combine?
