Flying Tomato is our go to. Kids like the Deep Dish also.

Wife and I will usually order a side salad as well. They're Garlic Parmesan dressing is delicious!

Last we had it, it was way undercooked. My go-to pizza in Ankeny is now Nonnas. Also enjoy Leaning Tower and Uptown.
We’ve tried Nonnas 3 times and there’s been issues every time. Last time there was hair in the pizza, second to last time they burnt 3 orders of garlic knots and the guy behind the counter got snippy with my wife. They refunded us for the hair and remade the garlic knots. We really want to like them but 3 strikes for us. We’ll save the urge and get Taste of New York or get Wig n Pen.

Wig and Pen mac n cheese is also delicious.

The flying tomato, union jack is fabulous. It's great reheated as well, It's very filling. Not a great beer selection, but it's gotten better. It's worth a shot. Not many pizzas like it. Great crust.
They try to stick to the English theme too much imo.

Man we haven't been to the W&P in a long time. I had been to the original in IC many times so I was pumped when they decided to open in Ankeny. We actually lived up there at the time and for like the first year it was never busy. I was actually worried they weren't gong to make it but once people found out how good the pizza was business was booming.

Great pizza. But takes like 45 minutes for the flying tomato to bake. Life hack - call ahead and order if you have impatient kids. Otherwise, plan to drink an extra beer or two while you wait.

I’ve only been there a couple times since we don’t eat out a ton but have always had the individual slices that are made sbarro style. We’ve tried to get a whole pizza a couple times but the wait was crazy long. Not much to go wrong at the counter in my case.

The garlic knot experience is when we did the counter by the slice. Granted, they did replace them but the guy was a **** about it and the other lady there asked what was up and saw the black garlic knots and said sorry, we'll replace them. The guy totally forgot about them when he was cooking the pizza slices and tried to brush it off. Kind of soured but wanted to give them another try so we did. Then we have a 6 inch long (thankfully) black hair in the chicken marsala pizza. They offered to remake us more but they didn't have hardly any slices of any kind left at that point. We want to like them and people obviously have had good experience there but man...
