The garlic knot experience is when we did the counter by the slice. Granted, they did replace them but the guy was a **** about it and the other lady there asked what was up and saw the black garlic knots and said sorry, we'll replace them. The guy totally forgot about them when he was cooking the pizza slices and tried to brush it off. Kind of soured but wanted to give them another try so we did. Then we have a 6 inch long (thankfully) black hair in the chicken marsala pizza. They offered to remake us more but they didn't have hardly any slices of any kind left at that point. We want to like them and people obviously have had good experience there but man...

I live relatively close and we get carryout from there quite a bit. It's good pizza, but I could see where the service could be a bit of an issue. I've only eaten in the restaurant once and it was a madhouse. My buddy and I sat at the bar and had some pizza and drinks and we saw a couple of people get upset about service. One lady kept complaining about her drinks. I couldn't tell if it was just her or the bartender, who was an interesting guy. If you want a pizza around dinnertime on the weekend you Definitely have to factor in a long wait. But if you understand it's going to be 45 minutes for a pizza and plan ahead it's no big deal.

Also, no hairs on any of our pizzas. I understand that is gross, but that kind of stuff happens sometimes.

IMO it's the best pizza in Ankeny, my wife and kids love it as well! We do carryout a decent amount when we don't feel like cooking. Flying Tomato for the W!

Nonna's is very good for NY-style pizza. We really like the vodka sauce pizza from them, though I've heard the arancini are quite good too. Wig and Pen is still our favorite for deep-dish, my inlaws love it so we get it when they come to town.
