Why is our passing game hot garbage?

Milton is not coming back this season. Hutchinson is good but not elite. We don’t have any other good receivers at this time. Maybe something will click with Shaw, Akers, or Scates but it hasn’t at this point so I would get used to hoping we’re not playing from behind as we’re not built to make up deficits. Doesn’t mean we can’t go 4-1 from here and make the big 12 title.

But Shaw was able to do it last year.... so what's wrong this year? He's shown he's more than capable.

I just watched CMC's presser, and he kinda ticked me off to be honest. Blaming pass catchers on their drops.... but you will never ever find him blaming Purdy for anything. Nothing is ever his fault. He can't even say that our QB play wasn't where it needed to be today or something like that.

He also rightly blames guys for flinching and getting false starts, but has he ever wondered if maybe it has to do with all their shifting and putting guys in motion all the time, etc??

Plenty of blame to go around always.... but never on the QB.

Can you imagine if an Olineman hyped the crowd every time they successfully pass blocked?

That's what I feel like dbs and wrs do after they do their basic job.
I think its hilarious. Even on an incomplete pass a DB has nothing to do with, they'll still celebrate like this

We played really bad, and still almost won which I guess is a positive. With that being said, there’s a lot of concerns around the offense and it starts with the coordinator and then the wide receivers

I've been super critical of Campbell/Manning today but I'm on board with this. Unless you thought we were making the playoffs everything we wanted (Conference title) is still in play. Whether will/can make these improvements is in question but this a good problem for us to have historically.

It is statically proven (at least in the NFL) motion/shifting is good for an offense/stresses a defense. If dudes can't stop flinching for something that is positive (when we clearly need the help) get them the **** off the field. Way too many illegal formation penalties, that **** is avoidable and correctable in practice. Constantly say we need to win in the margins then coach it.

I don’t think our WRs are very good, so we need to play 3 TE smash mouth football. I would like to get more aggressive with our play action passes, and take some legitimate shots down the field when we do throw, vs long-developing crossing routes.

I think Kene needs to be more involved and could provide a spark. I’m not talking about taking touches away from Breece, but running 2 backs, getting Kene in the slot, etc. I also think we need to run Purdy more on designed runs.

I think we need to stick with the run game, keep 3 TEs in, and continue to run the football. When we do pass, I’d like the see more creativity and more attempts at vertical shots down the field to really make the defense pay for coming up and trying to stop the run.

Defense was great. Backs against the wall most of the game because our offense couldn’t stay on the field and they never really “broke.”

Wow people need to calm down we just played a really good team who is #6 in the country and you would think we got blown out today. If it wasn't for a couple miss field goals we win this game today or at least take it to overtime.

I really don’t think that’s the case. When OSU needed points they got them. This felt like a 14 point loss that we luckily managed to lose by 3. OSU made more costly mistakes than us and they should have still won by 2 scores.

Pass protection has been no bueno. When Purdy has time, he’s pretty damn accurate. He got none of that today.

Purdy has been trash this year. He came into the season as top 5 college QB. Oline is missing 2-3 starters. He's mobile and needs to make it work. I will allow Manning and WRs have been significant issues but Purdy hasn't looked "right" all year to me.

He couldn't do s**t against Louisiana either.... I don't recall them getting that much pressure on him??

they have 2 every down backs
isu has one and down 2 ol

and osu recruiting rankings are higher

team probably needs ramos back and maybe milton could help

lost on LOS today, not all that complicated folks

kicking game, dropped passes, nasty hot sun like at baylor last year, boyz not used to it with all the grey, we gotta have things go our way to beat well coached teams with higher recruiting rankings when they are focused on u, just didnt have it today really, ramos injury hurt bad whar he? and downing was day to day now unlikely?

Love Purdy. Think he deserves better coaching. The bolded items don't matter outside of middle school.

I think Scates and Shaw are both really talented WRs.... but aren't doing much for "other reasons".

Weren't they both like 4 star WRs that we landed because nobody else really offered for "some reason"? I'm pretty sure that's the case.

I know Porter is still really thin.... but I wouldn't mind seeing someone with his speed out there. The problem with only recruiting 6'4" or taller guys is you don't have any Milton type guys with great quickness and speed.
You have any basis for suggesting your statement about Shaw and Scates? I’m not a fan of suggesting these guys aren’t doing what is asked of them unless you know about.
Sometimes guys just struggle. Always drove me nuts when people talked **** about Foster suggesting his struggles were “between the ears.” No, Foster doesn’t have great hips and feet, and he has worked to get better but it’s just a physical limitation that’s hard to overcome.
What I can see is Shaw is slow in and out of breaks like a lot of tall lanky guys. Those guys can be effective, but it takes the right situation. He’s a good guy vs the zone, but teams have been playing lots of man vs ISU. Sometimes it’s just something like that, and nothing more.

hes is a bit short is one problem but not great when oline isnt great
manning is a top notch offensive coach the day his firing is called for by a majority of this website is the day i say good day sir

oline was a mess today

isu needs to work on man and pressure busters again after losing earlier this year to similar, tough defense for us because no butler or lazard, oline gotta get better, ramos out worked against ttu but not osu, sorry that was obvious this was gonna happen all week
