Why continue to play UNI?

OK, my point is, why play them at all? Why give them a paycheck? If you look at their starters, almost all (except for 1A transfers) are guys that we looked at and passed on. If UNI sucked, those guys would be walking on to ISU or iowa. I root against UNI every game. I want them to turn into Drake. I have no problem playing one 1AA team, as they will not require a return game. BUT, that 1AA team should not be UNI.

other 1AA teams may request more money than UNI does, and we wont get near the crowd. The top two crowds in the history of Iowa State football are against UNI. That is HUGE money!

We are already scheduled to play them in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015

Besides the tickets/revenue issue, doesn't playing UNI make it easier for us to qualify for a bowl game?

It is just a good idea to play UNI, it helps out that school a lot, and gives a chance to play a good team year in and year out. They should play UNI for the next 10 years at least. Especially now that you can use 1aa wins every year towards bowl eligibility, it hurts no one to play UNI.

And I don't buy this, what if we lose to UNI. Well if we lose to them, we deserve it. Don't duck good teams, who do we think we are? Iowa?

great, now we are afraid of UNI. I'll take a team that gives us their best shot and tries to punch us in the mouth because god knows we need it. We are going to ALWAYS get their A-game and it is always benificial playing a team keyed up to beating you. They should have lesser talent...they don't. But if we can't beat them we know exactly where or team stands...sh!t sh!t sh!t, and you can't polish a turd by ignoring it.

Did you read the original post? Who said anything about being afraid of UNI? Beating them 42-7 doesn't exactly allow us to puff out our chests - they are a Division 1AA team. Losing to them is an embarrassment - they are a Division 1AA team. Do you honestly believe that Minnesota or Illinois or Wyoming or Fresno State or whomever wouldn't come in here with their A-game? Don't you think measuring yourself against another BCS conference school would be a much better test than playing a 1AA school?

As for comparing this to Iowa's opinion of us - try again. We are a BCS conference school and so is Iowa. UNI is not. It really is as simple as that.
