Why continue to play UNI?

I know what you are saying. I would just like to see us end this series with UNI and play the likes of a Minnesota. A loss would be a lot easier to accept if the team was at least D-1A.

Agreed. It's a tough thing to swallow. Hopefully someone will eventually give us a shot. But I think USF just taught Auburn a very valuable lesson in scheduling.

I think once 2010 rolls around we'll start seeing stiffer competition and we might actually be able to hang with them.

OK, my point is, why play them at all? Why give them a paycheck? If you look at their starters, almost all (except for 1A transfers) are guys that we looked at and passed on. If UNI sucked, those guys would be walking on to ISU or iowa. I root against UNI every game. I want them to turn into Drake. I have no problem playing one 1AA team, as they will not require a return game. BUT, that 1AA team should not be UNI.

So we need to drop MAC teams, ohh and 1AA teams. Once we get beat by a big10 school next week, we cannot play them, and then another mac team? I guess we better schedule WAC and DivII teams because that is all we have left.

I can't see any reason to continue to play this series can you? Win this game and oh well, you are supposed to. Lose this game and it is an absolute embarrassment. 3 losses to UNI in the last 15 years. JP, please axe this series. At least Kent State was D-1.

I have invested 25 years of my life into this program, when does next year arrive? Coaches come and go, administrations come and go and here we sit 2 games into the season talking about patience and next year.

Your post is very funny...especially since Jamie Pollard was disappointed that we could NOT play Northern Iowa every year because every 3rd year UNI wants to play the U of I.

Pollard is only after one thing boys...MONEY ... MONEY...AND MORE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get out your billfolds boys and open'em up because Jamie is gonna raise ticket prices and giving levels...NEXT YEAR???

I still find this post funny Urbie!!! Have a great day Bro!!!

lol how ironic is it that this is the same question iowa fans ask about us

Yeah the hawks have been saying that same olde refrain since...now let me think..oh yeah...since the early 70's when they knew that they had to play us and get beaten like a drum.

Did anyone on this board besides me attend the 1978 game in Kinnick where we beat the hawks like a drum...31-0??

Thats really why the hawks did NOT want to play the series and still dont want to play the series...Fear that ISU is gonna beat em and that they will lose their stranglehold on the in state high school talent.

Jamie Pollard "I wish we could play UNI every year"....That sez is all folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is going to HURT. I know all the seating levels are changing. Going to be hard to go ask people who have been sitting in seats for years, to donate 2x, 4x, 5x, their current levels to stay in their seats. Going to be fun to watch. But it will be good for those of us who are in this for the long term.

I will make a pledge, for every game we win this year, I go in $100 extra in NCC donations next year... Anyone else in with me?

This is just ridiculous. If we had won, you'd be talking about how great it is to have this in-state thing, giving the smaller guy a chance, etc.

Like it or not, we're going to have to play games this year ... and probaby lose all of them.

Um ... since the series resumed in 1977, ISU has won 10 games, U of I has won 30 games.

I'm sick of all you Hawk fans complaining about how we should end this series and that there's nothing to gain and only stuff to lose.....you Hawk fans have such a superiority complex that you think we're not even good enough to play you.......

......Oh wait - you are Iowa State fans talking about UNI. It's funny, you sound exactly like Hawk fans talking about dropping Iowa State.

Guess what people.....WE JUST LOST TO UNI. I think we need to keep them on the schedule until we can handle them as any respectable D-I school should. Then I will listen to talk of dropping them....although I bet I won't hear it anymore.

great, now we are afraid of UNI. I'll take a team that gives us their best shot and tries to punch us in the mouth because god knows we need it. We are going to ALWAYS get their A-game and it is always benificial playing a team keyed up to beating you. They should have lesser talent...they don't. But if we can't beat them we know exactly where or team stands...sh!t sh!t sh!t, and you can't polish a turd by ignoring it.

Im not sure how that made sense....but I get it and I agree.

How have 40 games been played in 30 years? Did we play Iowa in bowl games 10 years that I don't remember?

Totally agree, Bryce. Here is a list just for starters: Minnesota, Purdue, Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oregon State etc. I hate to lose, but losing to a 1-AA school is like getting beat up on the playground by a kid half your size.

Except ISU was the kid half your size in this game

How about we play UNI every year because the two biggest crowds in history have been the UNI games.
