Why come to the game to sit?

We were asked to sit down by one of the ushers at the game after a lady three or four rows back complained that she couldn't see because we were standing. You know what, we continued to stand. The people in front of us were standing and the only way we could see was to stand, and who wanted to sit anyway. If you don't want to watch the game and take part in the game, watch it on TV and then you can sit in your comfy little living room and don't have to look over anyone. I imagine that this fan probably would channel surf during the game anyway if they watched it at home. Didn't have to look around people in the isles this week. Good, becuase I didn't want to miss one snap this week.

Shaggy's parents and grandparents sit in front of us. Couldn't have been any four people more proud then they were during the game, especially in the final seconds. Grandma couldn't watch the final kick but she beamed from ear to ear after it went through and she had the courage to look. High fives all around!!!!!

I totally understand the not sitting. But, there are some old folks in our area that probably couldn't stand the whole game. I don't expect them to stay at home and watch from their tvs. They have had season tickets for years and are just as good of fans as those who stand the whole game.

I think I only sat down for the LONG TV time outs, and the half time to rest my legs. I was too full of Gluek (ryhmes with Yuck) to stand the whole time.

Our section has older people in it but everyone stood for the majority of the game. I heard one person yell to us to sit down but that is hard to do when everyone in front of you is standing.

I stood in the front row right behind the Iowa bench amongst several Iowa fans and told them flat out that if they wanted me to sit down, just tell me and I would. Never got a word from them and stood almost the whole time. Exchanged several hi-5's with them early on and they did the same with me in the second half. Just a fun day.

The only time any sat down in my entire section was during the agonizingly long TV time outs.

It's one thing if you'renot able to stand and another thing if you don't WANT to stand.

Those people that can't stand I can understand but they may want to consider moving to a handicapped section that is designed to sit and watch the game.

Overall, I was very happy with with the crowd and their participation.

The "stand" and "not stand" thing is as old as football. It's really up to the fans to work out a good agreement on how to do it. If I have some decrepit, older folks, who've had season tickets from '07 behind me, I do a lot of jumping up and down, when appropriate. If it's some fat*ss who is too lazy to stand, they can kiss my... well, you know:rolleyes:

When I was there for the UNI game, the lady sitting next to me, who spent money on a season ticket, spent the entire second half READING A FREAKING BOOK!!! GRRRR!!!

And last year at the ISU/KU MBB game, some other lady spent the enitre game sitting there trying her hardest to look disinterested as her husband and kids went nuts. We were in a position to win late in the game too!!! What the hell is wrong with these people???

We've got seats in the front row, upper deck, west side, 10-15 yard line. We were up and down the whole game, mostly up, but did spend some time hunched over to help those behind see. Seems like most of the row immediately behind us are some very cool folks from Madrid. Never heard a complaint the entire game. If you can't stand for most of the game and if you've got any voice left after a game like that, you're missing something.

Can't we quit singing this 'i'm the better fan' refrain. Until we've got a bowled stadium and a Packer's style wait list for season tix, I'm happy for every butt in every seat (whether its sitting or standing).

The seats are there for a reason. Be respectful to those around you. Everyone wants to enjoy their experience and it's hard to do if you can't see the game.

I have a question for everyone who insists that everyone, including the 70-year old couple who have had season tickets for more years than you've been alive, must stand and yell at the top of their lungs for every second of every game. The question is this: why? Are you physically louder when standing? Do you effect more change on the game while standing vs. sitting? I'll bet I can cheer and clap just as loud as you while I'm sitting.

P.S. I'm 31 years old, and I will stand only when necessary to see the action on the field. If I sat in the first row of the upper deck, I'd probably only stand for a Cyclone TD. And if you think that makes me a sub-standard fan, TFB.

Same here. We have yet to sit down for any of the games to this point in Section 20. I love it there.

We have stood the whole game for every game too this year and last year in section 19. Last year if anyone said anything we would just blame section 20 for standing:smile:. I did notice as you look back at an angle across section 20 last week the people who sit are watching on the big screen. So there is something to seeing the game on the stadium screen and still get the live atmosphere.

I stood the entire time except when I was on my knees praying with 5 seconds left in the game!

Then to the field. I saw Shaggy after he grabbed the CyHawk trophy. His smile was so big he could have swallowed a pickle sideways and not touched his lips.
