Who has stood on Jack's 50?

I wasn't there that night... But I was there the game before when we beat UCLA??? I think. A group got in by pulling up the fence.. I remember later on carrying the goal post from the practice field (since hanging on the goal post at JTS seemed pointless)... A couch on fire.... Lake Laverne... And then things got fuzzy...

Other then that I've been on it several times storming the field.. Then one year during an Iowa/ISU game, I sat in the Endzone where the band currently is. During warmups we were standing right on the edge of the endzone. Neat experience being there on the field next to media and no one caring. We were on the top row of those bleachers and close enough to talk to the people sitting out of the Jacobson building that day.

Yah, That's the night I remember too, I was thinking it was after the loss, but it's been a while and I killed a lot of brain cells since then. I remember when the section of fence was thrown in the lake it caught some dude in the back of the head and knocked him out. We also went to the Knoll that night for whatever reason. I recall a news van being tipped over as well, although I can honestly say I had nothing to do with that.

Only been on the field a couple of times.
Can't remember the year, think it was around 97-99 - in the AHS marching band there was an event where a bunch of high school bands joined ISU's band for a performance.

I was on the field for a band day as well - different high school, but probably around the same year.

Our HS drum line used quite a few of the same cadences that the ISU drum line used (changed to be easier for HS students, of course), so it was great to be involved in this, even if we couldn't really do much other than march on and off the field while playing.

I was on the field during the summer of 2003. I was at The Iowa Youth Agricultural Institute and we went on a tour of field. It made me think about the possibility of during Turfgrass at ISU. There is a lot of work that goes into that small patch of grass.

Besides that, I've only been on it after an exciting Cyclone win... usually Iowa!

Hey I was there too! I was about to post the same exact thing that you just did.

i worked there last year and was able to mow that field at least once a week...pretty sweet i was so nervous the first mow

I've stormed the field every year since I've been here in '05 after big wins. When I was on Cyclone Alley Central a few years ago I had the opportunity to throw out t-shirts to the crowd from the field (well, the bench area) before the game (Nebraska, I think?).

Also have been on Hilton's court many times the year I was on CAC. I'm hoping to be on the court after a huge win in Hilton this season!

Ahhh yeah!!! Storming the campus after the win against UCLA. That is still one of my favorite times at school. Went under the fence to Jack Trice to pull down the goalposts (for about the 5th time that year - I think we did it for all 4 of our wins that season), then saw the same couches on fire, witnessed some football players tip over some cars at the grad student dorms, marched up Lincolnway taking up the whole street while some dumb news van tried to drive through the throngs of people only to get climbed on and the roof caved in. We marched to the Knoll to tell Pres. Jischky (sp?) to F' dry Veisha. Then went to Lake Laverne to watch other people try to swim across it (only thawed out a couple weeks prior so I wasn't getting in). Thought maybe it was a mistake, when I got back in to shower in time to go to 8 o'clock class to take a Calculus midterm. Destroyed that test. Totally worth it.

yea... been down on the field for every huge win that everyone else stormed the field for. last season (and hopefully 3 more years) I had field passes for every game so im down there all the time. I usually get to game about 3-4 hrs before kick off and i always kinda just walk out on to the field. it is awesome to be in JTS basically by yourself standing there with the stands empty and its just you (sounds corny but w/e)

Best time on the field was before a morning game last season (can't remember who) there was alot of fog around the stadium and it felt like a scene from a movie.

Oh and agaist (kansas?) some team Rumrall caught one in the corner of the endzone and i was literally about 3 yards from him. in all the highlights of that catch you see me looking like an idiot jumping up and down freaking out!

And no it doesnt ever NOT feel awesome.

I was a student athletic trainer back in the early 90's. We still had the turf then. Two a day's sucked. Standing on that hard turf all day really hurt the legs and joints, even as a 20 year old. And you always had to watch out for the turf monster.

Marching band member here. My best memory of being on a field (not Jack Trice) after a game was in Iowa City in '98 when we broke the streak. I was a freshman at only my second game as a student. Awesome way to get started.

had a student that was a trainer for the team, she snuck me in and we got down at the 50 yard line. yeah, so that's breaking and entering, trespassing, and nailing a student when i was her TA....best night ever. go state

I've had a similar experience, except we were in High School.
We were in there all the time back then... The south gate was off the ground just enough that you could roll right in. Back in the days of turf and the victory bell was inside the stadium maybe??? I'm not real clear on the exact placement of the bell, but I do remember it because as a group of us was laying looking up at the stars, he went and rang that thing and we all had to run like crazy and get out of there because it was a Friday evening and even though the stadium was dark, there were people prepping the concession stands...

I also recall one night when 4 us were in there and each of us took a balcony corner and relieved ourselves from up there. We "made it rain" before Pacman did!!!:jimlad:
That being said, isn't it amazing how dumb you were when you were a kid??? Saying that we thought we could get away with anything would be incorrect because I just don't think we thought at all...

I've also been in on the "storming" the field every time it's happened since '92 I think. IIRC, 92 there was a girl in pretty bad shape after she went down in the chaos and was stepped on in the throat. It's really amazing that more serious injuries aren't more common during post game celebrations.

I've never been on the field, would love to sometime. Please add any good stories.
1977 football game. My HS football coach gave us a ride to the game, one of my friends, who's mother happened to be the president of the board of regents at that time got us tickets in the "governors" seat in the club section on the east side. The old legend was that this is the only seat in the Jack on the 50 yard line. All other 50 yard line seats were on either side of the 50. anyone know?
