Whiskey River - open?!

YUP, it's very nice and was PACKED on the opening weekend... Should be a really good bar for alumni to hang out at after games without heading down to Welch Ave

I remember my ex-wife, when we were just dating, puking out front of that place...sometime in the mid-90s! Those are the types of memories I enjoy from my ex...

It looks great. I've been there twice now. They have a few kinks they need to work out still, but overall they really revamped it.
One main thing I don't like is that when food is done, someone from the kitchen brings it out and sets it on the bar in front of people sitting there. I don't like that patrons can joke about eating it, or if they are coughing onto the plates, etc. They should have put a small warming, food done, window in between the kitchen door and wall corner.

It's open, if you drive down Main Street you will not miss it. By the looks on the outside it looks great. Just out of curiosity, do they serve food there?

Yes, they serve food. I've seen a lot of chips and salsa come out of the kitchen.

Check out their Facebook page, too.

Went there tonight. Looks great, but...

Not that many there on a Wednesday night, but the three bartenders couldn't work up the energy to get out from behind the bar to take an order or deliver a drink. I don't know if the burgers are as great as I remembered, since it seemed no one was too interested in serving food to us.

Yah, I sound like a crab, but I waitressed and bartended my way through ISU so I expect the waitstaff to put out a little bit of energy.

Yeah, that doesn't sound good at all.

I remember when it used to be Mondo's on Main. There was a pit you could sit in and just watch the drunks pass by. Those were prime seats if you could get them.
Whenever you went downtown, you had to at least walk through Mondos to see who was there.

Went there on Tuesday, but I don't really like it anymore to be honest with you. Part of the allure was the dirty, musty, country feel to the place and now it feels like your in Legends/Okoboji's bar side. They tried keeping some of the old decorations and stuff, but it's almost TOO contemporary/new for my liking.

Yeah, condemned buildings are always much more interesting.
